Thanks Suzie Q for your thoughts, wow I think that thing is too much for me too. For me, I would love a baggage door unit that can fit outside of it just like a window unit. Or even inside, since I dont have a bench there. That corner is just used for doggy space. Although a temp duct for me would be real easy since I have the newer sliding rv windows. But I dont have anymore than $100 or so budget at this time. No big deal. I dont hate my current system, just always want to consider the options.

Yeah Dan wow. Great concept terrible price. I think it's intended to replace central air on a room/room basis. A/C install costs $5K around here, so a few of these in needed rooms might make sense. In a camper, I like a $100 unit that you stick wherever it fits and duct to make it work. Guys, The unit you linked is a mini split. That is what I installed in our 19' Shasta. There is an outside unit and an inside unit. I put the outside unit under the bed. I found a 9,000 BTU on Amazon. $610 shipped, all parts included, comes pre charged with refrigerant, and it's a heat pump so it can heat also. Runs on less than 9 amps.

So since I cannot find any affordable alternative for my Shasta I will simply deal with what I have. Currently freezing in it right now, on a nice steamy late evening in the South. Feeling gooooood. I have been putting off getting the stupid window unit situated, it has been pooling with water in the fan area inside. Finally realized it had to be rain getting in, since I havent used it in a month and it was a bunch of water. Cleaned it out, and thus I enjoy myself. In my cedar paradise! All that matters is, IT WORKS!

I also wonder everyone, how easy would it be to do a roof AC with the vent opening? I have no idea how those work. Bear with me..

I found a really tiny window unit here in Canada for $99.00 at Walmart. Small enough to put on a slider out the baggage door. However it's a Canadian brand, so I don't think you can get it down there. I actually took one right out of the box in the store to make sure it really was small enough. (That was the only redneck behaviour involved) SaveSave

Rich, roof units are usually too heavy for vintage camper framing. Plus, they are expensive; $600 minimum, doesn't include installation. Many V trailers don't have a 110 option near the vent, which can be spendy.

Ill take a photo of the box for the brand and pull it out to measure it. The only thing is Im leaving on holidays in a couple of days until August 4th and I need my husband to access it for me where it is. So if I can't get the info right away, I will get it for you the first week of August. (I bought it last summer so hopefully they are still there). With your dollar rate it would only be $60.

I've been researching climate control since before we got the trailer. With our history concerning propane heaters I wanted to make sure that whatever we used is very safe. I had hoped to do the roof mount, but it would require a lot of additional support in the roof and walls, plus they are really expensive, $1500 for both a/c and heat. Anyway I considered portable units, separate heat and a/c and the Climate Right. We finally decided that the Climate Right, while a little more expensive, is really what we want. Don't have to permanently change anything noticeable in the trailer, don't have to have it installed all the time and it's small enough to fit under the trailer to be out of the way. Just more positives to me than the price would make prohibitive. If I factor in the price of a safe heater and an a/c unit, then think about which would be more convenient, 1 unit you can hide away, or two units you have to hide or figure out where to put, the one unit wins hands down.
That's my .02¢ on the subject, even if you didn't want it 😜

I love this, this is so my speed ha. And doesn't require holes in walls or modifying windows, etc. I may have to give this a go! Saving this link for sure, thanks for sharing! Save

Ok everyone, I know many of you have the last gen Compact, and so this has to affect many.. but anyone with this camper has a baggage door that is about 9.5 inches tall and around 17 wide. Low profile units are considered to be in the "short" 11 to 12 inch height range from all I can find. So I am now narrowing my question.. has anyone found a window unit that is less than 10 inches high? Because I couldn't. I gather that anyone who has found success has an opening higher than 10 inches. Or.. maybe they have found the perfect model. If such a model does not exist, I am forever sticking to my current set up! Thanks for any info, as always
