Hello guys and gals. I have been looking all evening online about window ac units and what can fit what. Until this raved about "Noria" 6 inch unit comes out, I was wondering what to do. My baggage door opening is right around 10x18 inches. I have a thought to take a discreet duct up the left rear corner inside and put a vent up top so the cold air can come downwards on everything. I could get my rear window back too. I will never put a gaping hole in my camper for this. I can't stomach it. And whatever I do decide it should be reversible I feel. I know many have different ideas on this subject. I have decided against the Portable units, they take too much room for a shasta Compact. This, the baggage door. Thanks everyone. One thing I know for sure, no matter the form, in the South I will always have A/C! For the summers. Not an option!

Rich, I take my little window unit with me, crank my window open and place it in front of the window on a table. I made a "duct" out of light weight foam and painters tape. I tape it around the window and unit (garbage bag works, too). I know it's not aesthetically pleasing, but it is on the back side of my trailer and keeps me cool when necessary and is "temporary". And no holes or missing windows.

Okay, since we're sharing Redneck AC ideas, this is my contribution. Crazy, but it works. I really would like a unit that fits in the cargo hatch and slides out. Let me know what you find.

LOL I embrace the redneck label We are using 2 braces for the one on the compact. We learned 1 wasn't sturdy enough, hence the jack at the bottom. The one for the compact will be so much easier to put up because it's so much lower to the ground than the Super. I'll post pic of the compact next time we use the AC.

You guys are nuts! I like it! Man, well I think we all need a unit that Fits in the baggage door.. haha. 65callie, thanks for your thoughts. Nccamper I remember your contraption! I bet it does work! I don't know what would really be better than my unit in the rear window for now. I don't think there currently one that actually fits in the baggage door. Lol. I don't have any shelving to put one either.

But like I said in my first comment, there is one that I think we would all go crazy for. Take a look! I haven't heard of it before. Not in production her but supposedly soon. May need to modify a window a little bit still but hey at least only 6 inches is taken. www.noriahome.com/a-revolution-in-home-comfort/

Yeah Dan wow. Great concept terrible price. I think it's intended to replace central air on a room/room basis. A/C install costs $5K around here, so a few of these in needed rooms might make sense. In a camper, I like a $100 unit that you stick wherever it fits and duct to make it work.

I posted this in another a thread a few years ago but the link has changed. It's expensive but works. You need a place outside to mount it or carry it with you, easy installation of vents and you can cap them when not in use. I know several people who have these on the tongues of their teardrops. I wasn't willing to spend the $$$. www.climaterightair.com/products/climateright-models/climateright-5000-btu-a-c-heater.htmlI looked at everything when I first got my Compact. The baggage compartment seemed like a good option but the problem I ran into was nothing quite fit under the bench.. too tall. I have since become fond of my baggage compartment access. I only need my air conditioner when I go home to the Gulf. And I carry it in a plastic tub. It rides inside the trailer until I get to the camping area and if I don't need it, I just set the tub outside the trailer. It's really not much of a pain to set up with it's temporary duct around the window. I had pics in a thread but they disappeared after some of FB pics were hacked... sorry. Mine was very similar to 65callies. I have a small Frigidaire that I also use with my teardrop. I don't have the remote control mode which would be a lot more convenient.
