Hi All,
New member here looking for the year of production for our recently acquired Shasta Astroflyte. The VIN is P6935. I believe Ross still maintains the Shasta database. I can send pictures later - it's a total gut and restoration. Thanks in advance.

I meant to include that the VIN listed on a 1991 registration card I found during the demolition indicates D626222. But, tag on door states manufactured in Leola PA and starting letter of VIN on curbside of tongue is definitely a P. Previous owner thinks it's a 1969, but he was basing that off of VIN as P69...

dawgvet I apologize, to you as well. The second one to slip by from last week. As for your Shasta Astroflyte, you are correct on being from Leola, Pennsylvania. She was born in 1966, probably in the last half of the year, thus she could have been originally titled and sold in early 1967. Hope this helps and please post pictures.....we ALL like pictures!!

Welcome!
I'm sure you will enjoy working on the restoration. Do you have any photos to share?

Hi Ross,
Thanks for the information. A little more paint stripping and sanding reveals the visible VIN as P6939. There may be additional digits under the welded coupler, removal of which will damage the stamping.
The VIN number of D626222 is likely associated with another Shasta - which appears to be owned by someone in PA. Somehow, it was assigned to our camper and is making titling a nightmare. In fact, I'm on hold with the VA DMV right now as I type this.
Our restoration of our Astroflyte is on hold until we can get this title issue resolved. Although it has been said before, DO NOT PURCHASE A CAMPER WITHOUT A TITLE IN HAND. And, confrim the VIN on the title matches the VIN on the trailer. And, if the DMV tells you can register the trailer as "homemade", get it in writing and be sure to ask them if a homemade title still applies when there is a VIN stamped on the trailer (in VA, it does not!).
If we can get it titled, I'll share before and (eventually) after pics.

Thanks for the update on the vin#. I have changed it on the database. You still have a 1966 Astroflyte.
The other vin# on the title isn't an original Shasta vin#. It was probably a title that was sitting around in a dealership and they made it work for your Shasta or it was a new generated title.
Be patient and it will all work out.
Ross
