Basic enamels aren't to bad until you add hardener then they become a problem, all of your modern base coat/ clearcoats except waterbase can cause serious brain damage. Disposable Chemical filters designed for those paints are rather inexpensive and should be used.
HVLP guns are the only guns that can be legally used in most states now, the old style ones will cost you more to use in wasted paint and thinner than a new gravity feed gun from harbor freight will cost in one paint job.
Also remember that drifting paint/ overspray can stick to anything close by such as cars, houses the dog anything.

Well, our neighbors' yellow Lab does seem a bit more intense than I remember him...  

As for toxicity, I believe the Majic tractor paint is supposed to be pretty safe (and eco-friendly), it is made from soybeans.  Of course the hardener and thinner are undoubtedly a different matter.  Here's a link to the company web site, www.majicpaints.com/products/farm/tti/ including paint chips - the color on the online chips is probably a little "iffy" though.  

Another good enamel paint that is very good and is available at Ace Hardware is Ace brand rust paint, very durable and doesn't require hardener but the very best thing is they can custom mix any color you want.

You've already talked me out of it..... LOL just kidding Bill. Thanks so much for the info. I lived this long and don't want to go out over a dang paint job at this stage of the game.

I wish we could put all this paint into in it's own forum. I'll want this info one day and will have forgotten where I saw it.

I just had to buy another paint gun.
I got a pretty good gravity fed gun at Wal-Mart the other day for $30. (Campbell Hausfield)
It's plug and play out of the box. Mine even had the proper air/paint mixture already set, right out of the box. I literally just put the paint cup on top of gun, filled it, put cap on it and started shooting paint.
Air mask, made by 3M at your local NAPA store for around $25.00. They have one on sale now out of their paint & body flier for around $14.00 but a different make and are disposable. The 3m mask filters are replaceable and can be had at Lowes for around $18.00.
Lowes carries the painter’s paper overalls with hood and booties for around $20.00. I always wear black rubber mechanics gloves too.
Painting the camper is my favorite part of the build. It is the fastest, cheapest, most satisfying part of camper repairs. The 2-3 days prep though seems like it will never end.
I'm still recommending rustoleum paint. Super forgiving for new painters. Only mixes with acetone, no hardener. I dumped the rest of my can of thinner in the gallon can of paint and stored it a couple months between paintjobs and as you can see in the pic below, it still shot out of the gun fine after just shaking the can up a bit. You can also dump paint that's left in the gun back into the can and it will keep till next time needed. No waste!
