We did our first long trip this past weekend…Boston to Northern NB. Here are a couple of pics…such a beautiful place, pictures don’t do it justice. The water in the background is the Bay of Chaleur, Mountains in the background are where the Appalachians meet the sea in Canada. All went well, the camper towed great and we ended up at about 1200 miles. Great Trip!! I think everyone in the campground showed to check out the Shasta. Looking away from the camper

AWESOME!!! I'm usually too busy to camp and was beginning to think it was all about the builds and not the camping. Thanks for the reality camping check! They all were stopping by wondering if you were the light house keeper sense it was all color matched LOL.
The photographer in me has to ask.... Did ya happen to get the money shot of your Shasta with the light house in the background, together in the same frame? If so, I want to see that one! Totally awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Soup. I wanted to get a picture of the lighthouse and mountains in the background but my neighbors big white box on wheels was in the way...couldn't get the angle. The camping part was fun...I have a lot of relatives in that area that came to visit. The site are right on the ocean, views where incredible.
CC, I stopped at Katahdan shadows campground in medway for one night...it was just a for a place to sleep. Busy place, it was nascar theme weekend.

Soup, MY, The thing I loved about our trailer. We spent the weekend in a beautiful location on the ocean. In the evening we had a nice fire and some company, which made for a lot of fun. I couldn’t help but think the vintage trailer people got it right. On both sides of us I could see big white box trailers with televisions flashing from within…nobody outside. Perhaps I’m a romantic as far as camping goes, but to me, just about everyone else in the campground missed the point. It about getting outside…enjoying a fire, the outdoors! The amenities in our trailer are not far from what was available when it was built in 1963…that’s the way I like it.

I'm with you, smc! Camping IS all about being outdoors, sittin' 'round a nice campfire roastin' 'mallows or makin' pies in the pie iron. I remember going camping with my grandparents as a kid and we'd march on over to a HUGE fire that the c-ground had started and at some places they'd have 'mini-skit' kinda shows...some songs (and they'd pass out lyric books to everyone), comedy groups (I remember the Belly Whistlers...LOL). We NEVER sat inside the trailer until it was bedtime...always outside, go for walks( I'd always have to see other peoples campsites) and stuff like that. Hell, even friendly games of JARTS (I have my grandparents set)!!! THAT'S CAMPIN!

Dragging your house around from place to place is not my idea of camping. Actually, camp grounds are not really my idea of camping either but the wilderness is hard to get to sometimes when you are dragging a box around behind you. Nothing wrong with being romantic as far as camping goes. Besides, it's hard to admire your trailer and the sunset and the view from the inside. The trailer is beautiful and I agree that a photo with the light house in the back ground would have been a keeper so maybe next time you will get a spot without a big white box next to you. Good job on having a good time. Beautiful photos.

Mobiltec, I visit NB every two years to see my grandmother, she's 95 and shooting for 100+...in two years I'll get the lighthouse pic.
Thanks on your comments...love your work and reading your posts.

smccusk...CONGRATS!! WHat an amazing experience, and I am so happy for you that you had a great experience! THat whole area I have visited many times, and I am so envious of the place you will be able to camp within such a short drive. We are doing a lot of "comfort' amenities in our Shasta, but you will see NO television in ours...with two teenagers, we need to "detach' and get away from all of that. I did have an idea to do an old projector movie OUTSIDE of our Shasta, to have it project on the outside with a sheet or something.....so AS A FAMILY, we can light a fire, sit in our outdoor camp chairs, eat smores and watch something (or not) to make a memory.
