Could someone tell me the size of screws to order for replacing around j rail, windows and eye brows. I want to order them in stainless. A source to order from would be great too. thanks.

I used #8 square drive stainless steel from McFeeleys online. Any order charges only $1 shipping, so if you need another box of 100, the extra shipping doesn't hurt. Plus, it's very fast delivery. Used #6 for most body work and even some #10 at the bottom front and back skin attachment.

It also depends on what the original screw size was, and if the old screw holes in the wood are good enough to hold new screws of the same size. Some people use a larger screw to get more bite in old, loose holes. Or glue toothpicks in the old holes to tighten them up.

I really like to stay with the original size screws. The J rail holes don't have to be enlarged by oversize screws if you glue and pick the holes...

Just compare them to new screws at the hardware store. You can see the size difference. But, replace with stainless steel.

I buy all my screws at Ace Hardware. One entire wall of the building is dedicated to fasteners of all types. You can buy them by the box of 100 for around $4 depending on the size. You will use at least 4 to 5 boxes of screws if you replace all of them. Size is on the box. #6 or #8x3/4 ....

Mobiltec, are you using stainless steel screws? If so, that is a great price. I buy my SS screws from McFeeley's online for about $16/100. I like the square drive, reminiscent of the old clutch head ones I removed.

We have used stainless rivets in the rock guards for the front windows though. I just noticed she said she was going to use stainless.

I got 100 #8 x 1" at Fastenal for $19-something. They have hex heads with a straight slot in them (all they had in hex head). Probably could have got them cheaper online, but it was a last-minute decision to work on that part of the trailer so I couldn't wait for shipping. Plus I like going to the store and having things when I want them, lol.
