Hi Friends, While this is an old thread, it's quite timely. The coupler as pictured below is an extended coupler for what was once an Atwood surge braking system. The length of the coupler is nice because it extends the already short tongue. I was wondering if the coupler could be reused with the fix as reported by Wisconsin Joe earlier in the thread? At the same time, can some of the remnants of the surge brake system be cut off? If you click on the photo and then click on it again in Flickr, it will magnify nicely.

Thanks again Mark. After going round and around with E-Trailer about identifying the correct part matching with a model number that was not there, I just ordered through Amazon for $2 less and free shipping. 30 minutes later I ground off the riveted pin and assembled the new part. Done! And in the process of stripping paint off the hitch, I found the registration number of the trailer which will help me get a new title. Where did find this part?
