Hello all! i am the proud new owner of a '67 LoFlyte. It currently sits pretty high and the previous owner told me that the axle had been "flipped" to increase clearance (although this was done before he owned it). the trailer is currently in the shop getting the brakes overhauled and I asked them to "re-flip" the axle to return the trailer to it's stock height. The shop owner, however is a bit perplexed because the axle currently is sitting on top of the leaf springs (not below them). it is a straight axle with no dog-leg near the hubs. I am thinking that maybe there were originally some blocks or risers between the axle and leaf springs that would cause the trailer to sit lower? But I cannot find any photos or evidence of this online. Could somebody with a factory Shasta setup from around this time please weigh in and, if possible, provide photos of what this should look like. I would VERY MUCH appreciate it! Thanks! i hope to be posting many photos of this project as it progresses! Eric

Your axle may well have been changed at some point. The originals I have seen have all had the offset at the ends. "Flipping" the axle is literally turning it over so that the dog-leg points down and pushes the clearance higher. I'm no expert on these chassis, but it seems like blocking might be the only way of lowering the stance since the axle is already on to p of the springs.
