Just wanted to quickly introduce myself. I'm Karen and I'm off today to go see my first vintage trailer (a '78 Shasta Daisy, so is that still considered vintage??). Anyway, I've been arming myself with lists and checkpoints and we'll see how this first thing goes. I'm not in any real hurry to get a trailer, as my goal is to have one eventually to take around to my Vintage Sewing Machine Geek Fests (thus allegedly saving on hotel costs ), but if finding the right project happens this year, next year or 3 years from now, it's probably not going to matter much in the long run. I live in Maryland, work in DC and usually find all the best sewing machines in PA. I'm hoping that will hold true for vintage trailers, too

Hi, My name is Daniel I'm 38 an electrician by trade, married and have 2 kids. My wife doesn't like camping on the ground so guess what we bought a 1960 something Shasta Compact for almost nothing and I fell in love with it. I ran across Larry on you tube and he has really been a big help. Here she is setting in the woods all alone where I rescued her. I have the cabinets on our back patio and i know she looks rough but just wait.

Hello everyone! We are in the process of restoring our second canned ham and will be very excited to get it out on the road to a rally somewhere in Texas. Does anyone know schedules of rallies in Texas in 2015? Thank you very much for any information! Happy Camping!!

Thank you for the welcome. I have no trailer yet. But my long-time hobby has been creating custom cars, and I'm looking forward to retirement in 2 years, and plan to tow something really stylish to match my customs, as my wife and I travel round this great country of ours. I was inspired by Douglas Heister's beautiful little book, "Teardrops and tiny trailers". It's hard to look beyond the cover photo of Ann and Norm Markus's 1937 Gypsy Caravan which has so much style. Heister's book has also opened my mind to the possibility of a tiny canned ham such as Bob Johnson's beautiful custom (p. 106). Looking around on the internet I found some plans first printed in Popular Mechanix in 1937 for the Midget Trailer, and bought a modern digital download from Randy Wicks. These plans look like Bob Johnson's midget beauty. Any way I'm at the start of this exploration. I looked at the currently produced Little Guys, the T@Bs which to me look too garish except in their mildest forms. On the other hand they seem to have high levels of finish and optional equipment at a price. So I'm up for looking at little vintage trailers for sale, and if I can't find what I want at a reasonable price I may build one. Any advice or direction for me would be welcome. CustomDave

Glad to hear the videos are helping. I don't claim to know it all but I think visual demonstrations are the best way to pass along the info I do know about... They eye is healed as much as it's going to. It's still blurry because the lens was damaged from the two operations and being over medicated with steroid drops. So now I must go through yet another eye operation to have a new lens put in. Going to wait on that for a while and take a break from all this surgery and healing stuff. Back to work on the trailers now and I just posted a new video on You Tube. I'll be updating my website with it shortly. I'm glad to be back to working on my trailers. Thanks for the support. I love my Canadian viewers. I'd sure like to get back up that way sometime. The Alberta area is where I have been so far. I'd like to see more. Been to Banf, Lake Louise, Cold Lake and numerous other beautiful places up that way. Not to mention the Calgary Stampede. What a blast that was! I'd also like to do a little gold panning when I get back up that way. I'm a hobby miner of sorts. As always, contact me if you need questions answered. If I can't answer them someone here usually can. This is a wonderful forum.

Hi, Friday I did exactly what you are not supposed to do. I bought a 1963 Shasta 16 SC that needs a lot of work. With four of my five kids are out of the house, living in Illinois, Texas, Georgia and soon Oregon. I decided to do something just for myself. It is already worth the $800 I paid for it, just to step out of my comfort zone and do something that has been on my bucket list since I was a kid. I am confident with a forum like this and the wealth of information people are willing to share, I will work. LOL! Besides, I told the kids that when I got older, I am going to visit each one of them and camp in their backyards for 2 months each year, spending the other 8 weeks of the year traveling from place to place. Now that I bought it the kids are each asking each other "she was kidding wasn't she?" I did know when I bought it that it needs the ceiling replaced due to vent leakage, as well as the front and back repaired/replaced from the top of the windows down and whatever unseen damage was done by the water from there. Sorry to be this long winded! I've really enjoyed reading your posts. Excited to be getting started on this journey

These days you can't buy a piece of junk for $800. So if most of the trailer is there you did great. I need to update that post because it's a little out of date. This is a good reminder. We are all here for you. I have many female viewers who have done very exceptional jobs on their trailers and most of them had no help except from one of their friends from the bridge club or something like that. So just study the material, ask lots of questions and make sure to show us lots of photos of your trailer. We're all here for you...

1963 Shasta 1900 Deluxe(?) I have been obsessed with Shasta and Airstream for as long as I can remember. I finally bought my '63 in November 2014. it is in remarkable condition and I am in love…sigh. i would like to exchange findings with other owners of the same model as well as get general information and of course continue to feed my addiction by seeing all the other campers you all share on this site.
