Scott Actually I'm just lazy Scott. I don't like typing the same stuff over and over so I got the brilliant idea to make videos. Glad you like them and glad they are helping.

Hi all. I had just found VSTF and read about it closing down. Thanks to whoever re-directed us to this forum. I don't own a trailer yet. I am in the research phase and I am very excited about the possibilities ahead. Thanks in advance for all the good advice I know will come.

Hey guys. New to this forum but I hung out with many of you in the Shasta forum before it was taken down. I have to thank those who gave advice and helped me find parts for the 72 Shasta Compact. I need to get some finished product pics up. I've been lurking here for a while getting myself geared up for resto work on a '72 Dutch Craft that was given to me by an old high school friend. I already have plenty of questions that will come soon. This is 21' and a monster compared to the compact. But free is free, right?

I've had a few "free" trailers that cost me thousands to get into shape. Welcome back..

Thanks Larry. I don't see this one being too terribly expensive. Front wall (as usual), framing around all roof profusions, and lots of paint and elbow grease. Taking the front skin off this weekend to get a better idea of how far down I'll have to go with new framing. All three roof vents were plastic and deteriorated long ago and no one bothered with a tarp. Luckily they were all over linolium flooring or the shower. The PO said all systems worked last time he used it about 15 years ago so we'll see if that's true when I start poking around some more. Tonight I'm going to make the wife watch some of your videos with me so she can get pumped up (or terrified) about this one.

Oh man that's classic. Do you think you will have to tie her up and duct tape her eye lids open?

Oh man that's classic. Do you think you will have to tie her up and duct tape her eye lids open? Or will she set there and point out how he did it wrong the last time? Or another possibility she might say look he did that by himself in 30 minutes and last time it took you and three friends a month and twelve cases of liquid refreshment to do the same thing.

She actually loves this stuff. Mostly because I do all the work and she gets to enjoy the after party. And the Shasta only took me (without friends) about 3 months and six cases of liquid refreshment.

You could tell her to pay close attention because she gets to do thus one while you watch, because turn about is fair play. disclaimer: we are not responsible for any knots she might plant on your head after you making such a statement.

no thanks. She's good at planning and making lists, I like tinkering. Perfect relationship.

:)Great original post, Larry! I read somewhere that the reason these old camper/trailers are so challenging to restore is because the original builders didn't construct them with the intention that they would be taken apart. I think about that comment ..... often, as I am working on my restoration. Thank you (appreciation - beyond words) for your guidance and video help. Taking my time, learning how to make the repairs and loving (almost) every minute of it...or at least proud of the work I've done so far!
