Hey Corky,
Welcome to the asylum.... There is a turorial on posting photos here. That should take care of your photo posting problems.
The boats part of your experience will help the most. Matter of fact, some of the manufacturers were boat builders half the year and trailer builders during the off season when it was snowing outside. Forester was one.

(do I have your name right?) So far I haven't found the photo tutorial...do you have a link? Many thanks, this is gonna be fun! (as long as the only fiberglass in these ole beauties is the waste and water tanks! ) Charles

Hello y'all! Newbie here. Going to be hauling my pile of "rolling rot" on wheels this Saturday. Now my old hunk-a-junk is an '83 Shasta, 24 footer. Not a lot of character like the classics, but not bad in the looks department. I'm hoping for an uneventful tow this weekend. Wish me luck!

Good Luck Frances! Make sure she has good wheels, bearings and tires! Much easier that way!

Corky how long is the trailer you are going to haul it on? Bigbill--Not sure I understand...mine is a 16-footer, and is rolling nicely on its own frame/axle/wheels. Thanks! Corky

Frances If I understood right you are planning to haul a 24 ft trailer home on a flat bed trailer. If that is what you are planning to do make sure you can get the camper far enough forward to keep around 10% of the gross weight on the tongue or it won't tow without a lot of sway. If it won't load in such a manner as to give you positive tongue weight you may have to add ballast to front of trailer Such as cement blocks or what ever you can come up with. A guy I worked with years ago bought a big truck camper and didn't have his dually yet so he loaded the camper on a trailer to far to the rear (no tongue weight) got up to around 40 MPH started to sway and before he could get it stopped the whole rig turned over destroying his new uninsured camper, the trailer, and the F 150 he was towing it with plus he and his brother in law both wound up in hospital. He was off work about 2 months. The Moral of this is BE CAREFUL.

After more years than I care to remember I have had a burning desire to find a vintage mid 50's Shasta,I've look at overpriced junk half way across the country, you know the kind I'm referring too...those supposedly completely restored treasures that have been fluffed with fresh paint and new paneling hiding more crap that can be found in Obama care! and then the cost of transportation was just too scary. I finally bought my dream last night 2/25/2014 knowing full well it is a basket case that needs everything, without what I have read here I went in with my eyes wide open. Thank you Larry for the information and the videos are really going to help. Danny

Hi Larry,
Any chance you have albums on shutterfly? I have a 1976 Surfside Fiberglass but have recently seen a 1961 Terry that makes my heart flutter....dangerous habit liking these vintage trailers. I can't find much info on the Terry - particularly weight of the 15 and a half foot as well as any known issues....thoughts??

No I don't use any of the photo hosts. I host my own stuff Shelly. Um I've only worked on a couple of the older Terrys but I don't see any issues with them. They look fine to me. Haven't gotten into them deep or anything. Just some rewires and plumbing type stuff.
