I know it's not original, but a paint job with a straight line would miss the vent.
Go ahead, beat me up for saying it.

I want a Z but don't want it to look like my 5 year old cousin painted it.
I guess is somebody at Shasta did it, so can I!

NC, I think you may be over thinking this. It looks to me that if you can get the tape straight on the louvers, then go over enough to coat it , that any imperfections are going to be minor enough to never be apparent especially at a distance. You might try finding an old louvered vent door in someone's scrap pile and practice on it before spring. I think that you'll find it a lot easier than you are imagining.

I think you can paint the Z with no problem, really. And you really should keep your wife happy.

Here's a pic from the CH website we've been discussing in another thread. I just want to say "NO" on the stripe on this one. If the vent was not framed in silver, it would probably look OK. Paint the vent to match the body.

Paint the vent to match the body. I agree on that one completely. I am wondering if even a two tone paint job over a vent will look odd. Does Ten's example work because it is one color? I wonder...

NC, that actually looks like the baggage compartment on that modern clone and I can't imagine why they didn't paint it all the same as the body. I do think the vent would look OK with the two tone. I know on my Compact, the stripe crosses that little plumbing vent and it doesn't look bad. Go for it. You could always re-do it (snicker).

Thanks Mel, It looks good on this one. This one may be a little lost, but it works. Lucky for me it's on the far side of the camper.

Yeah, the side that shows to everyone that passes you on the road....
These all are of a vintage where the vent in question is a lower refrigerator vent, and also, these vents have no trim or framing to break them from the paint color.
