Seconds on the "nice kitchen". Simple and elegant without being overdone. I sure see why it would sell you on the camper.
Seeing it does explain the location of your opening being where it is...the microwave is mounted right across the line of the old stove vent.
Sealing the J-rail and the clearance light will definitely help. I would also say that covering the vent hole from the outside would be the way I would approach it. Having an opening-closing mechanism of some sort inside is a good idea too, but keeping road spray out will come from the outside.

Thanks again vikx and ten I will look into that light and see if any of them on the camper have issues letting water in. That's getting me on another subject kind of because I would love to get the covers for them and get them wired up again that would be great. So something on the inside and outside with the vent. Got it.
