Somehow I managed to break one of the jalousie windows. Can I take it to any glass shop to have another made? Also, how much will that cost on average? So mad at myself for doing that. Such a clumsy move.

I've heard it told that any hardware store that handles window glass, or any other glass shop, can help you out easily. I do not believe a piece of jalousie glass is going to run alot as far as price, but you may find that replacing the other aspects of the glass-to-the-framework in a jalousie frame can run a little extra, for new seals and the like.Be sure to pay attention to the dis-assembly of the window.

Jalousies are very inexpensive. Take the broken one out and one that is not broken. The panes should slide out when the window is cranked open at the proper angle. May have to remove the screen on the inside and slide it out into the interior, if the little clip things at the bottom of each frame will not "give" enough to slide them out that way.
Take them to a reputable glass company and tell them what you are using them for. If you have the complete pane, simply ask the glass company to cut you (at least) 2 new ones the same size. Then you already have a spare for the future. Point out any pads affixed to the pane, and take a photo if the pads are affixed to the frame and ask the "expert" where you might get replacements. VTS may have some or your local Big Box store (Lowes or Home Depot to name two). Jalousies are very common here in the south and I have gotten a couple cut for less than $3.00 (three dollars) each, for my '61 Compact.

I can't remember how much I paid but it was a lot more than 3 bucks. I ordered mine in laminated glass with a slight tint to them. The laminated glass won't break and fall out as easily. I too ordered extras but haven't need any yet.

I paid $8 for small glass panes. Probably depends on where you get them made. You want thicker glass in Jalousies than a normal window. Stronger too. The little round rubber pads that hold them in place can be gotten from VTS. VTS also sells some replacement parts and gaskets for Jalousies. Be sure of what you are ordering though because not all Jalousies are built exactly the same. So some of the gaskets will not fit in some windows. You can call them and speak to someone about it if you are not clear on the website about something.
