I think that if anyone has the right to be nervous around propane it is me and my family. After an accident in 1997 that sent all five of us to the SLC burn unit, I should be stripping all propane from my trailer. But it's the complete opposite, I'm doing everything I can to get the propane system safe and operating including the stove, oven, light and a heater. There is no better or reliable source of light and heat than propane in trailers as long as you use it safely, and smartly. It blows my mind when I see or hear of people removing the propane from their trailers. It totally destroys the originality of the trailer, makes it almost impossible to go off grid without spending bunches on ugly solar panels or generators. For that matter, how is a cook stove used outside any safer than one used inside??? Did you remove the natural gas appliances from your home and don't have a gas grill?? What's the difference? None really except it's easier to maintain and check a propane system in a trailer than it is in a house, and it's a heck of a lot safer using propane in these older trailers than it is to expect them to be able to handle the large electric load you are putting on them.

I am going all electric not because I am concerned about fire or explosion it is because I won't be going off grid at my age. So why have the weight of a propane system? Also when I am done with this trailer I don't care if it is given away so resale is of very little concern. Also I have totally redesigned the interior to our needs so it is not original anyway. what I am saying is there are many reasons for why each of us do what we do. I have over seventy years of camping experience behind me in everything from a folded canvas to custom buses so at this stage I build what I want. But to each his own, that is why I love the good old USA we still are free to choose, at least for now.
