Hi! My travel trailer is mostly all aluminum - very little paint. And I'd like to keep it that way. But that means I need to polish it. Is this site right on how to polish a trailer? www.wikihow.com/Polish-an-Aluminum-TrailerIf I am okay with it not being completely bright and shiny (which I am - at least for the time being - I am ready to get on the road!). Can I just buy some other type of polish and put it on by hand? Just wanted to check... Thanks! Elizabeth

I interested in this too! I pm'ed Brendaleeoc earlier about how she polished hers up so maybe she will chime in here and give us some tips. I've been polishing up the brows and small things with steel wool, which works well, but I'm thinking there's a better method of doing the entire trailer than rubbing it down with tiny bits of steel wool. Lol.

a buffing wheel and compound would work, then finish and even out by hand, you will have a black residue that will build up you can use something like "Prep Solv" to remove it, It can be purchased at any automotive store with paint and body supplies. www.carid.com/universal-paint/dupli-color-specialty-product-4014584.htmlI did read about a couple of people polishing the entire camper and they said it was VERY labor intensive, I would visit on o the airstream forums, I am sure they have a good process for this sine they are all unpainted aluminum.

They make polish/cleaners for the fuel tanks and alum wheels on semis that work very well. Harbor freight sells an electric D/A polisher that uses foam polishing pads for around $50.00. the foam pads come in three different grades they are 5 or 6 bucks each. Takes the work out of polishing your trailer or your car. Won't leave swirl marks

I too had pm'ed Brendaleeoc awhile ago to see if she would give me some pointers..haven't heard from her yet. My Shasta sides have been stripped down to the bare aluminum (similar to her Ellie Mae), and I have been researching online and on youtube airstream methods for polishing. It does appear to be VERY labor intensive...I may wish I'd just painted..lol.
Has anyone used the Nuvite polishes? There is such a range available, and I'm not sure how many of those I actually need to polish up newly stripped aluminum. Any input/experience would be greatly appreciated!!
