Hey guys Im new here and upon request I thought it might be eaiser to post up some pic's of my 1947 13' Aluminum Aircraft Co. Trailer. I was going to sell it a few years back and on 2 different occasions I thought I had it sold. Both times the deals fell through. One guy stopped breathing, and the other guys wife wouldnt let him have the money after he left his deposit! So it went into deep storage till now. I think I will spend a little time effort in cleaning it up with the hopes of recovering a little more for my time and effort in building it. I custom fabracated the wings, skirts, and porthole windows. I cut in a larger front window donated buy and old school truck camper. From that camper I also used the electrical, water system, large roof vent, sink, oven stovetop, and a collection of other odds and ends. At one time I had the back sections from the wings down polished... looked cool but what a job! Being I had a few tree branch grooves along the passanger side up high I used a bit of bondo and silver paint to finish it off good enough for that summers use. I needed to get it on the road and to the different hot rod meets here in San Diego. The plan was to make a nice woody style dividing line spliting the top from the bottom. It would swoop down from the height of the fron window to just aft of the fender skirt. Some Retro color would go on the bottom and I hadnt decided what to do with the top? Anyway this what I have right now... Ideas, thoughts, do's or don'ts are all welcome. The upside of not being original is that I can do what ever I want and not feel any pressure to be correct.

Hi MT,
I just gotta know. What is the little door to the right of the oven? Is that a meat grinder on the counter? Is that a towel rack in front of the sink (folds down?). All I can say is "unique, very unique" I mean it kindly!

All I can say is "unique, very unique" I mean it kindly! LOL... Yep its kind of out there isnt it! The little door is just a cubby hole to stuff thing in. The door has a couple spring loaded hinges which keep it closed while traveling. The grinder is for coffee beans... Gotta have my Java when out in this thing. Yes on the towel rack / shelf as well. another shot of it...

Like I said its not era correct by any means. But it did keep me busy and occupied while I was going through a pretty ugly divorice. It was fun to build but to be honest it gets way more attention than I like. There is no such thing as a quiet camping trip in this thing. Everyone wants to see inside! LOL I finally have to put my foot down around mid night and say no more peeks...

I'm thinking true steampunk. Like it a lot. Soup has some great camo (?) trailer pictures that you could use to help you stay less conspicuous if you want. Where are you Soup?

Love the chicken wire cabinet faces. Great trailer and you definitely made it "yours"... Isn't that what we always preach? LOL. Welcome MT.

Well, at my age it is great to be able to mark something off of my "bucket list" I have 3 FAVE of all time, camper pics that I have run across on multiple pinterest sites before pinterest made you sign up so they could sell your activity within pinterest to those entities who buy that kind of info. I wanted to track down the owners to learn more about their campers...to no avail. Along the way, I joined the Australian equivalent to the old Vintage Shasta Trailer Forum, my screen name was...crikeyitsbruce...and, low and behold, 2 of the 3 campers I like the best turned out to be avatars on two Members' threads/posts, so I got to talk to them about their campers. A bit too far away for a short visit, but not impossible since I still have over 2 million frequent flyer miles left over from my working international days. And that left only one, and yes, it turns out to be MT's '47 Aluminum Trailer Co. 13'. Thanks for the introduction to your camper.

Wow what an honor... and now at least I know you approve of the appearance on the exterior, which also tells me that it was not offensive. As a fabricator one always takes the risk of stepping over the line of good taste. I remember when building the wings thinking that I might be stepping over the limits a bit. I did change up the look of the wings enough that I couldn't be accused of copying the Scottys. I hope you weren't too disappointed when you finally got a chance to see inside? Thanks for sharing this with me as it made my morning coffee taste just that much better! Thank you very much. Soon I will be making a lift up cover for the front windows and clean up my patch work under the front window. I need to spend some more time in getting it presentable once again and your kind words helps with my motivation. when ya get a minute maybe you could post up a few pics of the other two trailers?

Those little fender flares over the wheel well are awesome. They just flow with the design and the wings.
