Hi,
I am working on lifting the body on my Westerner. I am looking for suggestions on how to separate the base of the doorway from the floor.
I can't be sure if it's nailed or just sits on the floor. I am just trying to minimize damage to the doorway before just going in with a reciprocating saw blazing away.
Thank you,
Rod

Scotty's door frame is screwed to the sides and top of the opening in the wall only; the bottom is not. But someone may have gooped the bottom on at one time or another. Putty knife along the inside edge?

Do you have a photo?
Separate the base of the doorway from the 3/4 inch plywood or the frame?

Well, I got to it today with a closer look. The right side of the doorway when facing was devoid of any nails attaching it to the plywood floor. I took a hacksaw blade and managed to get it underneath thanks to some rotting linoleum. The hacksaw went clean underneath the right doorway stud.
The left side appears to be the same situation. I had difficulty getting underneath it with the hacksaw blade, though. I suspect it's also not attached at the bottom, but vertically to the wardrobe cabinet. I did work at loosening all screws from the foundation screws to the mounting screws to the walls. My last pull to see if it would break free was spoiled by tiredness and realizing that a non original shelf was still attached to the blind side of the structure of the wardrobe eliminating the chance of giving the wardrobe its freedom, tonight. I was tired, anyways and decided to try in the morning with daylight.
Cheers,
Rod
