I recently completed all the college this old brain is going to take in and my wonderful husband granted my wish for a 1967 Shasta 19 Super. It was a double bonus because we acquired her from a US Postal Museum very close to us in this flat corner of Ohio. Got to support a local museum and acquired my heart's desire. Silvia has most of her original fixtures, wings, and stove. The paneling in the '67 isn't the lovely birch but a lined paneling that is very late '60's. I don't mind because I feel less guilty making her mine. Oh, the plans I have for her but first I have been scouring the boards for upkeep and maintenance info. Silvia is in usable condition now but I plan on slowly, one section at a time, taking her apart to ensure the wiring and framework is all intact. Like most other ladies her age, she has had a couple leakage issues. First on my list is her roof. Right now there are no leaks and I want to make sure it stays that way!
Silvia will be used primarily for weekend get aways with our 10 and 12 year olds. Occasionally, our 20 year old may join us if she can find time away from her studies in New Jersey. Mostly she will serve as my sanity keeper (or breaker) as we get the young ones through adolescents.
Glad to have found this board and all the info that everyone has been kind enough to share. Jennifer
