The last batch of birch was $17.02 per sheet (i just checked the receipt).
The 3/4" doug fir was also excellent quality, some of it was instrument grade, according to my boyfriend. They will cut what you need, but you have to leave them 8'.
They don't mind you picking through their stock for just what you want.

Frost in San Diego (Miramar) also gets theirs from Indonesia, but it looked good to us. We had about 80 sheets to pick through this last trip, and didn't quite get to the bottom for those last 6 sheets. I am completely redoing the inside of my Shasta and have decided to go with Birch instead of the paneling that was in there. How much are the sheets at Frost? I am having to take a trip up North anyways so I may go check out Peterman on the way back. If you go to Peteman's ask to talk to Bill in Customer Service about the birch. Tell him you are putting it in a vintage trailer...

So far, so good. Let us know how it turns out with multiple coats of shellac. Thinking delamination might be an issue? Please keep us updated as I am waiting to see how yours turns out before ordering some for my 57 Cardinal.

Which four don't carry it anymore?
More and more companies are discontinuing it. This started on the East Coast a few years ago and now has spread west.

I found a place that carries 1/8 Birch and it's pretty nice. Not imported! I just picked up 11 sheets today and the guys there bent over backwards helping us. They even loaded all of them and went through to make sure all the panels had no flaws. The place is St. Charles Hardwoods 3909 Mid Rivers Mall Drive St. Peters, MO 63376 Phone: (636) 926-2000

From 54campin:
I hear the birch panels can be hard to find so thought I'd share that Tanglewilde lumber in Lacey, WA has 1/8" birch ply if anyone local is trying to find some. It was $30 for a 4'x8' sheet. I picked up 3. They have 3'x7' sheets as wel

Dad Rambles how is your piece holding up from Home Depot? I'm thinking that's going to be the route I go. Also, for those of you interested, in gunguy05's post about the Columbia Forest Products birch panels, there's a "where to buy" tab and Home Depots, among other places, are listed on there. I'm sure the price varies from vendor to vendor, but at least it's an American-made product, and if it stands up to the shellac and looks good, this could be a very good source. FYI, we have a Columbia Forest Products in my community where they make the veneer face. It is then shipped off to South Carolina I believe where it is then laminated to the ply layer, and then shipped off to Home Depot and other vendors.

I called Maine Coast Lumber and Sea Coast Lumber. They both carry 1/8" baltic birch plywood approx $17/sheet. Baltic birch comes in 5' x 5' dimensions. the grain pattern is similar to regular domestic birch but your color will be lighter, though if you are using shellac, i don't see why you can't manipulate it to the desired color. baltic birch has void free layers of plywood which makes is more stable compared to domestic plywood. Search hardwood suppliers for this type of product in other states if you still require domestic birch. Hope this helps.

I've seen people use it but the results aren't always good. Lots of seams, lots of shifting, loss of tensile strength. Maybe they can order full sheets?
