I could use a sheet or 2 of 1/8" birch. I haven't had much luck findnig anything in my area of SW PA. Someone did tell me about a place about 5 miles from me, but I haven't stopped in yet. Their website does list a few items I could probably use www.rockler.com/search/go?w=Birch&asug=&sli_uuid=&sli_sid=I've had the same issue in NC. I finally found someplace that would order it but only if I bought 20 sheets. I've used Baltic Birch (in your link) in a few places but it's very white. Through mixing tint to shellac I got the color close enough.

I see nothing posted about any sources less than five hours away from me in CENTRAL California. I am about 80 miles from Fresno, San Francisco and Sacramento, South, West and North , in order. I am having a tough time finding a good source. One place, Aura Hardwoods tells me they have birch from China and some white stuff (which the forum has suggested against). but in 5.2mm and something different in 2.7mm. They suggested something called,"Mirante"?

Not sure if this is the thread I commented on recently but you sound like you are close to me. I'm in the hills near Sonora. Our local supply, Sonora Lumber on the main drag, south end of town, sells 1/4 and 1/8 birch and oak almost always in stock. Nice stuff. Real plywood, NOT mdf mid section. Its all about $20 dollars a sheet, give or take a little. Call before you drive up and ask to talk to the contractors desk.

Thank you. yes, Modesto is home -I will do that. i can't believe some lumber mill couldn't take the hint from all these posts lamenting the chore of finding QUALITY 4x8' birch panels and produce the same to meet what appears to be an unmet need.

Owl Lumber in Lombard Il(near Chicago). I think we paid $22 dollars for a 4x8 sheet of 1/8 birch plywood. Last purchase was May 2015. pennyg, have you had good luck with the plywood panels from Owl Lumber? I just called Owl and they still have them in stock. Just realized that I forgot to ask whether they're from China, so I'll have to call back in a bit. The price seems quite low, so I fear these panels might be too good to be true. I live out in western Illinois, but I could drive over there if they are good stuff.

hilcandoit, I've used the birch from Owl Lumber on some small projects in my camper. Just did the door, and so far the birch is fine. Don't know how it will hold up in the long run though. Bliffert Lumber in Milwaukee and Racine Wi also carry 1/8 birch panels but I've never purchased it from them. Penny

Name of company: Bliffert Lumber Address-or at least the town: 7 locations around Milwaukee, WI Cost: $25.61 for a 4 x 8 sheet When you last bought from them: 2 months ago No longer available at Bliffert. I have a friend that manages one of the stores and he tells me they are no longer carrying it. Dang!

I'm pretty sure the names/places on that link came directly from this thread. That may be true, though the one I found in MN was not named in this thread. Maybe there are a few others that could be helpful to someone.

I was just a little dismayed that if they had taken all or most of that information from here the blogger would at least give credit to "us".
