Hello! I do not own a vintage trailer (yet). My purpose in being here is to learn all I can about this fast-growing hobby. I am a credentialed appraiser focused on unique, exotic, historic, prestige, hot rod and racing motor vehicles. My job is to be independent, objective and impartial while making the valuation case for other-than-mainstream subjects. 2014 will be my company's 40th year in business. Please teach me, I am here to learn. Thank you, Jon Lundberg, ASA www.southwest-valuations.com

(wlcm)You will find folks here to be both opinionated and open, flexible and rigid, passionate and fatigued, and generally pretty funny. Those of us who have gone through a major rebuild understand the long-term value in doing so. On the other hand, there are also those of us who did a major rebuild because otherwise our trailers would have disintigrated in front of our eyes. We can be extremely picky when we evaluate trailers for sale. We usually prefer substance (in the form of structural soundness)to "lipstick on a pig" (the prettied up trailers that have obvious rot problems) and have not the least reticence in pontificating on the subject. There is a wealth of experience and information here (none that is of any value will come from Hamlet, we're only here to have a good time) , and we hope that you get the information and knowledge you're looking for.

WELCOME Jon!
There is a wealth of knowledge here and I am sure we will appreciate your expertise on appraisals! There have been many who wanted to insure their trailers for an agreed value, but are having trouble finding proof. We have an insurance/appraisal board here that is sadly lacking information.
A good way to learn about vintage trailers is to read the posts, especially in the For Sale section. As Hamlet mentioned, we tend to be opinionated but fair...
Have fun and PM me if you need any help.

Thank you! I feel welcome already. I have much to learn and, in doing so, will have many questions. Remember, you volunteered <g>. In the meantime, if I may answer questions from your group, please encourage the asking thereof.
Thank you.

Dear Shastamom:
Anytime! The key in restoring old Jeeps is to take plenty of time, paying attention to the details as you go. I would also suggest that you explore three or four good enthusiast/restoration forums for flat fender Jeeps. Like here, lots of good tips available there. And once those folks know they're helping a 12 year-old, all kinds of good help and advice should come.
