I too am emjoying the thread. One question. Have you got a shoebox Ford too? I did, that's a funny story too. In 2003 I sold my current project car and bought a 49 Ford. I drove it home all excited thinking of all the cool things I'm going to do to it, air ride, white interior, flat black paint, maybe some flames, etc. My wife took one look at it and hated it, called it an old man's car because her grandfather had one like it. I had it for another 5 years, never really had the time or money to do much with it, eventually gave into my wife and sold it so we could buy new living room furniture. A couple years later we were at the Symco Shakedown in Symco WI and she see's this car that SHE loves, air ride, flat black paint with flames, white interior... it's a 49 Ford. Oh well, i have a couple projects now I'm trying to finish and eventually would like to get another 49-51 Ford.

I got the seats back from the upholsterer friend last night. They came out great, super comfortable, probably too nice for the trailer I got to help with the upholstery so i took some pics. There's a layer of burlap over the springs attached with hog rings. Then a layer of jute padding attached with hog rings. Finally 1" super high density foam rubber padding (this was expensive stuff apparently) glued on with 3M Super 77 spray. We initially tried to make patterns from the original seat covers but ended up just taking careful measurements of the old covers and new rebuilt seats and making our own patterns. New material is a high quality marine grade vinyl. They had a lot of this red in stock so that helped make my decision to go with it. New covers stapled on, 1/4" french seam all around. This holiday weekend we're heading farther north in WI with another couple for a double Shasta family camping trip. I'll take more pics of the campers setup and these seats installed.

Campsite with friends Shasta. Dark pic of seats installed. My daughter didn't allow the table to be setup all weekend, she played on her new "Red bed" when she was sick of the bugs. You can see the rotten corners here. Thankfully we only had an hours drive to the campsite. I would like to get this repaired this winter before any major use. My brother testing our bed. You can see some water damage around the rear window, the PO glued and caulked a piece of plastic over the rear window which i suspect helped kept most of the water out. If anyone is curious this is the futon mattress we bought. www.amazon.com/8-Inch-Independently-Encased-Premium-Futon-Mattress/dp/B004LQ1RGA It was very comfortable, a little firm but best sleep i had while camping. I have not tried it as a couch yet though.

Will you be at Symco this year? We are working day and night to get our skins back on our Vacatoinaire to be in the show this year. We've gone the last 3 years and showed in 2013 & 2014 then decided to take the trailer down to the framing to be able to get to the rot. Now we're at the wiring part then insulation and skins back on. We're crossing our fingers we can get it ready to ride for the show.

Yea absolutely, we'll be in the overflow camping though since we don't have a vintage tow vehicle The goal is to get into the vintage camping area eventually. We'll be there with the same couple we camped with this weekend. If you see our campers feel free to stop in and say hi.
