I have a 1966 Shasta compact with a very faded orange stripe-this looks original but before I re-paint it I'd like t find out if that was the original color. Also the guy I bought it from put some very old tires on it just to haul it to my place--since it needs new tires and I'm not sure if the ones on it are the right size, does anyone know what the original tire size was/is for this model? Any help is greatly appreciated. I have had 3 people in less than a year stop and ask if they could buy it--that was before I did any work on it. annelouise

I think my Shasta is a 1965, It has the original orange stripe and the tires are 6.50 x 13

Generally speaking, 1960-64 Compacts were canned ham shape, and had the "Z-Stripe" decor...: Between the 1964 and 1965 model years, the body design was changed to the flat-top "toaster" style, the 6" aluminum brakes were kept and the accent was the orange "spear stripe". Somewhere about mid-'68, the siding was changed and the "gold-stripe" version was born. It lasted until the company was sold out to Coachmen in 1975.
