Hi, I have some gaps between the wood framing that were original. During my restoration, do I need to fill those gaps with a small piece of wood with glue or just leave it the way it is? In the image below, you can see a 3/8" gap just to the left of the upper left corner of the window opening. That's the stuff I am asking about. I have a few more like that and some are wider and some a bit narrower. Thanks, Rod

No expert here but I had some pieces that didn't quite meet up for whatever reason and I just reinforced them with an added block of wood, not "in" the gap but attached to corners or above/below. Looks like you have a board above that one. I would add a block between the two, next to your frame boards.

Yeah, that and/or a strip of aluminum stapled to bridge the gap.

Thanks Susie and Turbo. i was working lower down earlier today and late this afternoon when I was enjoying the fruits of my labor, that exact idea came to me. Never thought of it earlier, but that's what I will do. interestingly enough, that piece above looks strangely out of place. I am just trying to say that it may have been added later. The wood is a different color. Also, there appears to be another one farther up only a few inches again. Hmmmm. I haven't pulled the upper side skin yet, so I can't say for sure what's up there. The upper skin on the street side is still unfurled, so I can't compare. Restore On. rod
