Can someone tell me where this thermocoupler is supose to be? And is the 12 volt only used to ignite the burner when you push in the button?

Any info on these types of older refrigerator would be helpful. It is somewhere around an 1988 model. Came out of a motorhome that my neighbor was getting rid of he said it worked last he remembered but it looks to me like the propane part might need some work ( thermo coupler isn't hooked up to anything) and the 12v wiring was cut. I haven't plugged it in yet so see if the 110V works I was really wanting the propane option the most.

These refers can be either 2 way or 3 way. If there's only two wires going into the round "chimney" area, it has only the 110 element. If there are 4 wires, it would be 12 volt and 110 electric. Can't tell from the photo.
The thermocouple mounts near the ceramic ignitor and the tip should be close to the burner flame. The fact that it's just sitting there makes me think this unit has problems...
The ignitor is probably a piezo but not sure. (you push a button and it sparks) Many of the smaller older units did not need 12 volts to operate.
If you smell ammonia or see yellow powder on the cooling unit/coils, the fridge is toast. Hope this helps, it's really difficult to see what is actually there.

Thanks Vikx I have a few more pics I will see if they will upload. There isn't any yellow powder at all. I'm working away from home right now so I will check if there are two or four wires 12v to the chimney. I was wondering if maybe the thermocouple was toast and someone was going to replace it at one time but forgot to finish the job. I have a new one but I wasn't sure where it mounted but over the ceramic burner is the typical location ( daaaa I have blonde moments )

A few more pix might help.
The ceramic thing is the ignitor; the burner itself is a little farther in, about in the middle of the chimney. It's about the diameter of a nickle, maybe 3/4 high.
