The refrigerator is a Morphy Richards Astral in a '63 Shasta Airflyte. It's been removed, the burner cleaned, and re-installed.
I started the fridge yesterday evening for the first time and let it run all night. Got up this morning, it was 46F outside and still dark. Temperature inside the fridge was 4F. Brrrrrr. That was great.
I left it on all day. It was a bright, sunny day in the southwest. Trailer was closed up tight. When I came home from work the outside temperature was 68F. The fridge side of the trailer was facing west, catching the late afternoon sun straight on. Temperature inside the trailer was 80F, temperature in the fridge was 56F. Fridge was empty.
Does that sound about right? Anything I could do to get the daytime temperature lower? Insulation around the fridge would help and I'll probably try that. Perhaps a small 12v fan to exhaust air from the fridge cabinet through the vent to the outside?
Any ideas? Or is this as good as it's going to get and I should be thrilled and move on to another part of the project?
Thanks, as always.

Sounds like your cooling unit is iffy at best. The fridge might last for a while, but 56* is too high to keep food. You can try the fan, but I have my doubts. Wouldn't hurt to try.

Also it will stay cooler longer with stuff in it.

I would check the door seals.....sounds like the hotter outside air is leaking in.

Thanks all. I'll work on it some more when I get a chance - i.e., when there are less pressing bits of trailer maintenance to do!
My plan is roughly seal, insulation, ventilation and putting stuff in the fridge. I may try and burp it, too.
When it read 4F, I thought I was golden. Oh well.
