On Labor Day, we were coming back from a pretty eventful and thankfully safe camping trip when we had a tire blow out. I knew this was bound to happen because my tires were pretty old and they were passenger tires. But on Labor Day, nothing is open. Luckily we weren't far from my family yet and my mother runs very similar 14" tires on her trailer. We limped home with her spare and another spare. Our original rim wasn't damaged either. Now the toils of buying new tires before our final October trip. I know a local shop manager who seems to know truck tires. Guess we'll see what he knows about trailer tires and old rims. Wish me luck. I'll update what I get them done, probably in a week or two.

Sorry for your misfortune and grateful no one was injured. Glad your rim wasn't damaged, too. You were either lucky or blessed with divine intervention.

I think some of both SusieQ. Thankfully I've read enough on here to not tow at the highway speed limit. My wife hates it but it probably saved us a much worse accident. I was expecting a lot worse reaction in the trailer. As it was, it wasn't too bad. We definitely were fortunate.

You should put ST (trailer) tires on the trailer. They have a stiffer sidewall than car tires. Depending on the wheel and tire size, LT (light truck) tires also work well on trailers.
