Helping a friend troubleshoot unusual tire wear on his 15ft Deville. After less than 2000 miles inside edge of tread very worn. Bearings are tight, no play or wiggle in wheel. Axle to frame distance the same both sides. I'm thinking this has to be a bent axle (drop style by the way). Seems simple enough, but I'd welcome input before having him order up a new axle and brakes. Thanks in advance!

Measure the toe. Should be zero to 1/8", of "toe in".
You will find your axle has toe out if the inside edges are wearing/cupping. Axles can be easily aligned for toe at a "truck" alignment shop, or you can replace them with new and the toe setting is preset (it's bent in two directions for toe and camber) at the factory. You just need to be sure you install the new axle in the correct direction. Brake wires are usually on the rear of most axles which help identify the toe in direction.
