My trailer has sat in a pasture for about 20 years, but prior to that was in good working condition. The refrigerator is a Marvel, and worked fantastic before it was parked 20 years ago. It's pretty clean now, but really needs to be taken out, cleaned up and refitted with new door sealings and whatnot and it will also need to be rewired since a nice large family of rats have been living in the trailer. First of all--how do you get the refrigerator out? Second, is getting it restored worth it? Has anyone done this and have an idea of how much it might cost?

The Marvels are usually nailed into the side framing. Remove the fridge door and wood trim, you should be able to cut the nails with a sawzall.
Re-wire temporarily and see if it works. They can be repaired for about $600...

Wowee! That looks great! The Compact's ice box cleanup is next on my punch list. Is the inside of the Marvel metal or plastic? The Compact's is plastic -- is it paintable?

One thing, if your Marvel has a cardboard looking case (sans metal on the sides): mine developed a terrible odor after spray painting. It was so bad I sat it outside for 6 weeks. Finally sealed it with white shellac based coating. Doesn't smell today. I'm guessing it had some sort of flame retardant chemical in the cardboard that reacted with the paint.
Trust Me, the thing stank.
