Just call me old fashioned but this made me ill just watching it. When you take the nostalgic factor and the thrill of giving something a new life out of the equation, you just have another trailer. Another case of the industrial world jumping on to a growing marketing opportunity. I can't say I blame them but darn, I hope it fails otherwise all of us that put blood, sweat and tears along with frustration and anxiousness will loose something grand. OK, off my soap box. What do all of you think? www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xp7WRedZgPU

I thought the thing was kind of cool until someone mentioned that it had no storage. I watched the video and I agree. I'd rather have a closet than the option to shower while sitting on my toilet. :-) I don't think the new models will put a dent in the restoration market. I've never actually seen a restored Shasta in person, but I looked on line, and these new models can't compare with really good restorations like this totally cool trailer. www.flickr.com/photos/vintage_trailer_connection/sets/72157627476923740/If it actually lists for under $15,000, the remake is a nice option for those who just want a new camper, but don't find the typical new model appealing. Perhaps they even offer a floor plan with a bigger closet. Cheri

The storage comment was mine. We have two dogs that ride in a crate in our X-3. It doesn't leave much room for hauling stuff that doesn't fit in the trailer. Hamlet may not have much floor space, but he's got plenty of storage, especially for a 10-footer, and we have a potty/shower room, boo.

Not bein' a purist, if I had a '61 I'd be psyched to be able to get new emblems, an LED gas lamp, and a clamp-frame side window...

This is like a reproduction Barbie doll to me. Nothing like the real deal.
However, I do see a market for those out there that don't have the skills or time to restore an original.

I guess I should show one positive comment. The window upgrades would be great if they are made available to the restoration folks out there with out scalping us. some of the other upgrades may be good also if simply made available to the rest of the world. I just don't associate blue tooth, stereo and sound systems with the nostalgic world of restored units.

Just when you thought Shasta couldn't do anything worse to a trailer.

I like mine better too. But. They are nice. I play with Hotrods and customs.so my heart will always lay with the originals.

I don't think the new models will put a dent in the restoration market. I've never actually seen a restored Shasta in person, but I looked on line, and these new models can't compare with really good restorations……. I agree with Cheri. This new product from Shasta will not affect the restoration market… in fact it may even embolden the restored market. A relevant example is the classic Airstream market. The market for 60's Airstreams, ripe for restoration, has gone through the roof in the last 10 years…. and that right alongside the Airstream company churning out brand new, contemporary versions of the original design. There are restoration shops and individuals all over who do nothing but restore riveted skin trailers… and the market for them (and the price tags) are impressive!

Looked really nice to me. I love my vintage one but there a place for a new one. Buy one put in storage and in 40 years you might really have something. I'm 6'4 and the height sounded good to me?

Just FYI for those who might not know this, Coachman made a 2009 Airflyte. It was not a vintage copy, but a modern version and wasn't extremely popular. I'm guessing the reaction to it may be what inspired a vintage look-alike version. But it's another to throw in the mix and will one day be a vintage trailer.

Coachmen actually builds a pretty dang good quality trailer. We looked at this trailer in another thread. May have been on the old board. Couldn't figure out why it didn't have a front window LOL...

The inside is rather modern looking, too. The only thing really "Airflyte" about it is the shape and maybe the size. I actually like them, but even used, they bring a pretty penny.
