On the other hand, the reissue might raise the profile of the Airflyte, which in turn could increase interest and value in the originals.
But I'm not going to lie - my immediate thought was, "there goes the cool factor."

They are only making about 1900 of them. They'll be bought up soon I think. Only thing is, they won't be as original as one might think. They need to build in the crappiness of the frame work if they want to truly bring back the old Shastas. Throwing in a little rot would help too.

Haha, Mobiltec! Yep. The craftsmanship was crappy but I still believe the engineering was superb.

I happen to collect antique furniture. I have many beautiful old pieces. The patina and "dings" are part of the story and if you try to fix them you lower the value. There have been many "reproduction antique furniture" places around for years, but even when they try to make the pieces exact to original.. they can't manufacture the story that is told in the wood. In terms of market pricing etc. they don't compete. Its a different market and real collectors don't buy pieces at "Bombay furniture" or "Pier One" and call them antique. The one positive of this release is that people who want a "safe" retro trailer but have no skills can now buy one without being taken advantage of by the hackers and scammers in this market.
What would have been really "cool" would be for Shasta to have issued a new unknown model, that was still totally authentically original syle and build. Lets wait and see if they use real birch... somehow I think not.

And we addicts may become prejudiced as well...
I, for one, will be looking in person. Oddly enough, the closet Shasta trailers are in British Columbia.

I love it when a manufacturer makes claims like "Built In North America" which usually means Canada.

They need a forum. "New Vintage Trailer Talk"... Or they could title it phoney Bologna. with a sub title of "I wanted the real thing but wouldn't put out the time or energy, so I bought this one to go with the classic car I bought". It really doesn't matter how or what kind of trailer you acquire as long as you go out making memories camping/traveling. New, old to each his own, and if I don't like what you have when you park beside me I can always hook up and move to a different place.

cant believe they missed that, anyone notice the aluminum on the sides, my 61 Shasta has 14 breaks in the siding on the side, the new ones have 21. on another note I like the idea of a cargo door under the front seats, that drawer is crazy hard to get to. but that front window looks like it is just marked to look kind of like jalousie windows, and the Shasta emblem doesnt look to be chromed, side dinette windows dont look to have enough slant to them. (cheep knockoff)
