I usually have it shipped to a freight terminal then pick it up there easier and cheaper shipping.

John pinpointed my delivery exactly: The driver arrived and seemed friendly enough. He helped slide the boxes into our pickup bed (easy way to go!)and then requested we sign the bill of lading. Well, the metal company said to inspect the metal before signing. The truck driver says, "you can't open the boxes until you sign". Called the metal company, and they confirmed that, but said to note that accepted delivery was subject to inspection. Truck driver says NO. "I can't let you write on the bill". He never let go of the piece of paper we were to sign. Covered everything but the signature line with his hand. Since the boxes looked OK, we signed in blood. When I called the metal company, he started to give me a bad time: "you had the bill in your hand, right?" Uh, nope. "then the driver was being an Ahole" and "why are you worrying before you even open the boxes??" Grrr. OK, the metal is/was fine with very minor marks, probably from the metal company, not the shipper. Here's the boxes: Can you spell NIGHTMARE?

Yeah, Steve told me to open up the boxes and inspect everything before I sign. Thanks for preparing me in case they won't allow this. haha I still haven't heard from them to schedule a delivery time... In the meantime, I cut myself last night on my Ninja blender (I can handle big power tools no problem, but apparently not washing a blender blade). I thought I would survive, but today it's looking like I will need to go in for some stitches. So now, I'm not sure how I will be lifting this box without reopening my wound. Talk about bad timing!

We just received the (new) one piece aluminum roof and has a similar experience with the LTL freight company. Thank goodness our roll of aluminum arrived safely, and the driver was a decent guy but the dispatcher at the freight office was a ring tailed ***** and did her best to avoid giving us any information.

Yeah, it makes me feel a little better to know I'm not the only one who has had issues. Hoping the driver is nicer than the dispatcher was!

Update: freight company driver just called to say he'd be here in 30 mins. He wasn't supposed to show up for three more hours so I don't have anyone here to help unload the truck. He mentioned he would use the lift gate. I called to tell Steve at Hemet because he didn't authorize a lift gate and he got mad at me and said I had said I'd have someone here! Of course I was planning to have someone here, but at the scheduled deliver time, not three hours early! My friends have jobs! Geez I'm at my wit's end with this whole process. I hope when it arrives, it's not damaged in any way and I can get it and be done with this fiasco.

My new skin arrived earlier and the driver was really nice and helped me unload it. He also opened the boxes for me so that I could inspect everything before signing anything. There was a small dent in the side panels from a gash in the side of the box, but I decided it was tolerable. So happy to have the new skin! Now, I just need to get everything ready so I can put it on.

We are getting ready to start installing it this weekend. I'm nervous as hell! Let us know how it goes on your end, too.
