Thank you so much, nccamper! I really appreciate your help.
You don't by any chance know what the "Repressed Std 8/12/74 820-B" means, do you? It's hand-written outside on the base of the camper. (There's a picture of it in the picture link I attached.) Very puzzling -- just curious if you've ever come across anything like that and what it might mean...
Thanks again, Susanne

Shale, i’m out of the country at the moment and I can’t see your picture but that number doesn’t make any sense to me as far as the factory is concerned.
maybe somebody else will chime in with an answer.

I have a Shasta Compact Toaster style in need of a frame up restoration. It was manufactured in Northridge, Ca. The Vin is 31160 and is on a plate welded to the inside of the street side frame. From photos of other Compacts, comparison of skin patterns, jalousie window styles, etc., I believe it to be a 1967. The wings are missing, however the mounting hole location indicates it had 25 X 6 wings originally. All of these clues leads me to believe it is a 1967 or 1968.

It's hard to say without the two letter code before the number. The Northridge plant had a GS, FS, etc.
If it was GS it might be a 1965. FS could be 1967.

I have carefully and thoroughly cleaned the frame area where the Vin number should be, top, bottom sides, both sides. The frame was not rusted, but well covered with paint. I removed the paint using paint stripper and polished the frame rails with 00 steel wool. I find no evidence of any letter or numeral stamping being done on this trailer ever. There is absolutely no evidence that a proper vin was removed using a grinder or sander. I have two 1962 Shasta Airflyte's and a 1961 Airflyte and they all exhibit the proper Vin stamping and location. There is no date stamped behind the mirror or on the bottom of the sink. I think the green Shasta data plate next to the door is the original. Even though these plates can be replaced, i don't think that is the case here. I rescued this trailer from being scrapped. I haven't ever seen any letters stamped next to the Vin plate welded to the inside of the opposite frame rail, but I'm going out to the shop and look furthr.

Does anybody know if Zieman Chassis Company in Whittier, Ca. manufactured and supplied trailer frames to Shasta? Or did Shasta manufacture their own? All Zieman Frames are identifiable by year of manufacture.

Hello, Would like to identify the year of a Shasta Compact. I know it was built in Columbia, SC as I have the green id tag to the right of the door. S8671 is on the tongue of the trailer and the little tag welded to the inside of the frame. The Shasta was owned by my grandparents and used during their retirement. I remembered staying in it when I was a kid as I have fond memories of it. Unfortunately, it was in rough shape as a tree limb punched a hole through the roof and you can imagine what that did? My family tried to give it away for free but no one wanted it. I pulled a lot of parts off of it that were salvageable. I will post pictures of it when Flick er lets me sign into my old account.

My grand father took out the fridge and closet that was in there. He installed a small house toliet and ran the plumbing into a septic tank in the ground. That's why on the left side you see the pipe for air attached to it. It was nice use a normal bathroom in it. He wire in permanent electrical too. But man was it small as we hit adulthood, he did the install when was about 74 years old in 1990. Hello,
I am trying to verify the year and model for my Shasta. The PO thought it was a 1963. The mirror stamp says 1959. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
The curbside number on the trailer is V15571. Thank you!

Is it an Airflyte or Compact?
