NEVER flip a drop axle. You can change the location of the axle to go on top of the springs to get more height but do not flip a drop axle. You can also extend the shackles just a bit like maybe an inch without problems down the road.
If you are looking for more clearance to go off road you will want all new springs, hardware and a new axle. You're looking at about $700 total if that if you do the labor.
On the water tank and electrical... Put the tank on one side and the electrical on the other. Safer and more balanced that way.

Mobiltec is correct… about flipping a dropped axle. In my case from my earlier post, I misspoke… I'm switching to a straight axle and that effectively will give a little more ground clearance. Mounting the springs on the top of the axle, whether dropped or straight is OK too… right? Thanks.

correct it is ok to put the axle under the springs if done properly, also you can buy springs with a greater arch to gain road clearance or in the case of a dropped axle you can replace with a straight axle.

Finally starting on my Deluxe. I eventually will put in a new water tank, but for now I want to keep the old one if possible. It's in good shape. Trouble is I can't figure out where the pressurized valve attaches. Mine has a dime size hole next to the fill cap on the outside where a Schrader valve was sticking out. it was attached to a 3 foot tube with a brass attachment for screwing it in somewhere. It also has a shutoff valve in the middle of the tube. Did anyone else have this setup? Cant find a place on the tank where it would attach. Thanks for any unput you have.

Hi Julie,
We really need pictures to understand what you have. I'm thinking of making this your own post and putting it in the plumbing section..
We're glad you're here.
