As I ease down the road to completion I find that my forward thinking nature did not kick in until now? The rubber gasket around the cargo door on my 61 Shasta Compact needs to be replaced. This is also the case with most of the seals and sweeps on the windows. So, is Vintage Trailer Supply the only source for this stuff? What I saw there some time ago was pretty expensive and I guess at the time I was thinking I would retrofit some off the shelf product to ease my pocket book. However, before I do that I thought I would see what others are or have done. Also, as some of you know, this is a complete reskin job. I had a new door frame fabricated and I built a complete new door. However, from my pictures and research I haven't found any evidence of a way to seal this door when closed? I am thinking I will build a special jam unless there are some idea's out there. Thanks in advance. Chuck

61 Shasta, I recently re-skinned and rebuilt the door on my 63 SC. From what I saw on the original door, the VTS door seal was pretty close. I used their door seal as well as their window seals. They all worked out well. I try not to plug any vendor site's, but from what I've seen their seals are good.

Great pics! It's turning out really, really nice. (I can see why you replaced the entire skin - looks like somebody used it for target practice!)

I did a search, and came up with several different styles.

hoosierpoet, I'm not sure which door seal smccusk was referring to. I simply assumed it was the one for the cargo door. I still have not found one for the people door on my 61.

I assumed smccusk was talking about the "people door" - haven't even thought about the cargo doors yet! If you find out - about either! - and happen to think about it, drop me a PM, please. (Or of course, I will be checking this thread.) I'll do the same. My own '61 (Airflyte) came with a PO-built wooden door that leaked like a sieve. I found an original to rebuild, so at least I have the skin and the screen door to work with. But seals are a mystery I have yet to figure out...

Great rebuild album...I hope you have the opportunity to do a blog or post a full restoration thread for us.
I'm sure one of the pros will respond. There isn't a rubber gasket type seal on the main door. Your door's aluminum should overlap the opening by a good 1/2" all around. Then the threshold/jam is skinned in aluminum and has an aluminum stop at the bottom bent in a z so that it allows any water that might make it that far to drain out. I am happy to be corrected on this.
My cargo doors are wood covered by aluminum, and overlap just like the main door. For those though I use a thin piece of compressible weather stripping on the door overlap. Seems to give a great seal.

GK I had a seal on my entry door but it could have been installed after the factory. I saw it as a second point of defense from water so I installed a new one. Given how much rot I had around the door frame and door, every thing helps.

Thanks to everyone for the help and suggestions, I'll check out the links. If anyone else knows for sure about the Shasta door gasket (or lack thereof), perhaps they will chime in?

Also, TRIPLE CHECK the size of your jalousie grooves if buying seals and fuzzy strips. I bought the fuzzy strips and they don't fit my windows! So be sure. VTS is great about helping customers and exact measurements.

After a lot of cussing and straining, I got the fuzzy strips into my jalousie window (VERY difficult), but now the window won't close all the way. The pile is too thick, I think. Suggestions?

Fuzzy strips for all of the different kinds of Jailousie windows come in a ton of different widths and thicknesses. It has been my experience that it's very difficult to find replacements for every size. You need to actually measure the channel width for each window for a starter. I have inventory boxes of different size strips. I mark the part number, and size on the boxes, and do not mix up the seals. Then when I need a seal, I can go to my inventory boxes and try the exact "seal sample" in the window channel for fit, and "then order" the seals that from VTS. You can also find some sizes of the fuzzy seals in the sliding door section of any of the "good ole" local hardware store. The Lip seals are even worse to replicate because of sizes, and fewer replacements. VTS seems to be adding more sizes every time I need to look in their catalog.
I HATE WINDOWS! They are dirty (aluminum), nasty (crusty/pitted), and very boring to work on.
