I went online and watched videos of this in action. What's the smallest size we can use as "workbench" to clamp on to? I have an old microwave cart that I can use and then screw a piece of 1 inch plywood to it as a workbench top. I think 3' x 2'6" would work. will it?
For what it's worth, Harbor Freight sells the Kreg pocket jig copy for $67 and with one of those 20% off coupons the price drops by $13.
thanks

Rod,
I bought the Harbor Freight one. No complaints. A must have tool. I mounted mine to a 12"x12" piece of plywood, making it portable. When I need to use the jig, I just set it on a workbench, or table.

As someone who is not a carpenter, I have used the pocket jig set they have at HD. It is not the Kreg brand, but cost the same- $ 39.95. The metal is soft and I've carved off a lot of the inside of the guides from the bit provided. I tried to angle the drill perfectly, but the guide was so tight it was difficult not to catch the interior of the guide with the drill. Kreg may be better quality.

I've had absolutely no problems at all with my Harbor Freight "Drill Master" pocket hole jig and I bet I use mine a lot more than most of you do. I don't know what could be done to improve on it other than make it more expensive....
