Thanks. I've read the reviews. I thought maybe someone here had it or a different model and would be able to share their personal experience

We have a Thetford 155S. It is a bit smaller and seems a bit more portable. We have used it once for a weekend tent camping and really did not strain it to its limits to find out how long it would go without emptying for the two of us.
It holds about 2-1/2 gallons fresh water and has a 4.3 gallon waste holding tank. It works with a hand-pump bellows, has a compartment for the deodorizer to carry inside it, and it is a bit small. The portable part is nice for the tenting but I have decided it would need a platform if we are using it in a trailer with a closet or private space.

We have a Thetford but I do not know the model number. It has been the perfect choice and no complaints so far.

I havent really given any serious thought about a porta poty, looks like they have came a long way in the 30 years since I last used one, I actually have already bought a thetford toilet and a black water tank, but the thetford curve may actually be a better option for me, looks like less work and mess than I thought and less chances of ending up with a stinky camper. I only camp for 2-3 days at a time.

We have the squared one - older model. Especially nice to see the little enclosed TP holder - especially since we also use the area as a shower. Hmm.

The warden, I mean wife, would'nt even consider a camper without a toilet when we were searching for a vintage camper. Our Shasta Compact has the original toilet which was an add on option when new. It is a self contained unit. It has a threaded pipe that goes through the floor of the camper. If the toilet was dumped it would just empty out on the ground. I hooked up some PCV , a gate valve and a connecter so a black water hose can be connected and it can be emptied at the dump station. It had a leaky connection from the water supply to the hand pump...piece of the threads broken. Gooped it up with a hot glue gun and this seems to have solved the leak. A few drips of water leak from the hand pump when it is pumped. Haven't tried to fix this yet. Hopefully just a washer replacement will fix it. Wanted to just replace the toilet but the warden, I mean wife, thinks the original toilet is "cute".

Wow! I've never seen an original toilet in a Compact! Thanks for sharing.

Pretty hard to argue with with a "cute" toilet? ...No, hard to argue with the warden, I mean wife! It must have had some kind of fitting at one time...what it was I can only guess.

I was leaning this way after talking to another Deluxe owner on FB. OMG....what a time and money saver. We are lucky in that we have a door to close, otherwise why bother. This is the way to go, I'm sold.
PLUS.....if your like me and starting from a total gut job, you can pull the porta pot out and utilize the entire space for a shower...instead of the leaky tiny little shower pan curtain rig. This just makes so much sense. So much sense.
Thanks to you all who talked me out of plumbing it.
PS, how do you all secure the Thetford port potty, or like ? Obviously not screwed down. I could see mounting a wooden plate cut to the foot print of the potty, just placed in, or perhaps a some straps to the floor or wall?
Any thoughts?

I hadn't considered a porta potty, but after reading about the options, I going to give the Thetford a try. So much easier than the other alternative of installing a camper toilet and plumbing. And the added benefit of avoiding the dump station! I thought I'd bump your question up Shastastic! How do you all secure the porta potty?

The bracket above screws into the floor and the base of the pottie snaps in and out of it.

I'm so thankful that I found this resource, y'all have come through once again. I just ASSUMED that my camper had a holding tank since it had a toilet. It does not. After the opinions here, I think that I'm just going to remove the toilet and go with one of these curves for black water. I guess I still have to figure out the gray water from the sink, but that's much less daunting to think about. Thanks all!
