Thanks John. I am disappointed about painting over porcelain. I have seen photos of others who have painted their stoves and they look great but didn't know what the details were. I also wanted to do my fridge but it has a weird finish. It looks like contact paper but it isn't. Not sure I can paint over it.
SusieQ; thanks for the info; saw the message.

There is some stuff that you can actually get at HD but they only carry a few colors. Might be able to order others but it's called Porc-A-Fix or something like that. I've seen it used and it aint half bad!

I have some of the glaze stuff that you redo bathtubs with, but I've never used it. I think it is the same kind of stuff as above. I bought it when we were remodeling a house. But I'm not sure it would be safe on a stove top or oven door that gets hot but maybe on a fridge door.

There is always the alternative which is having the entire top redone but that's a little price for some.

I might give that some thought. You know those turquoise and other vintage colored appliances and sinks I like so much? I bought the porcelain glaze to make the blue bathtub white and took out the other stuff and replaced it with white in a 60's house. Funny that now I want it. But I did keep the awesome vintage counter tops.

Hey guys, I am using Drive Train paint from Auto Zone. It's good up to 550 degrees. The color selection is a somewhat limited in that most of us are looking for "vintage" colors. I went with what is called Ford Red. It is more a deep orange than red. Here is a photo of the range hood. Just sprayed the stove top this even and will be doing the oven front soon.

Hey all, I just wanted to let you know: DO NOT use Drive Train paint from Auto Zone to spray paint your stove. After I spray painted the range hood and the stove top, I called the manufacturers regarding a question I had. While talking to them they said their product WAS NOT appropriate for painting a stove. When the stove heats up the paint would give off fumes that could be toxic. Wow; I had to strip the paint off and luckily I was able to get the stove top back to it's pristine condition. I am glad I had not spray painted the stove front yet. I decided to leave the range hood alone. I like the new color; just too bad it doesn't match the stove. Lesson learned!
