My wife and I purchased a 66 Shast Super in October of 2012. It was one that had been in snow country for too long and the roof was SEVERELY damaged due to snow load. We brought it home and began our restoration. I will try to get some pics up, still figureing the pic thing out.

It looks that way from the picture, actually the repairs began in February. This is the start picture.

As the first picture shows, I was removing the vents and such for fit into the garage. The second pic is the rot in the left rear. Mostly powder. This pic is the rear floor removed showing the HUGE wasp nest under the floor. There was also lots of mouse nests and more wasp nests as I went forward. All of the perimeter wood had to be replaced. We are replacing the 60's paneling with birch panels. Two coats amber, three coats clear. My wife is becoming quite the expert!

Your '66 looks very similar to my '67. My husband doesn't know that I'm scheming for a way to fit her in the garage for some work this winter. Was removing the roof vents all you needed to do to get her inside. We have 8' garage doors and I've been eyeballing what would need done to get her inside. Can't break out the tape measure while the husband is looking. He knows it will get to be a serious project if he finds her inside and is still under the illusion that I'm only thinking about some cosmetic things until the kids are out of the house.

Our garage is also an 8' opening. I had to remove the vents and deflate the tires to get it in. It was still a tight fit. Good luck with the remodel! I have pics of my rebuild under owner restorations, 1966 shasta super major rebuild.
