I kind of thought that might be what it looked like if it wasn't the rubber stopper. I've looked! The only thing I can come up with that has the u shaped piece of metal is a cabinet door latch with the rollers. Thanks, Mobil. I'll keep looking. We have have an old time hardware store downtown, I'll check it out.

On the ones that I have built screen doors for I just use a hook. Works great. Simple. You can get the spring locking gate hooks like used under the tables with the old wooden table legs.

Finally remembered to get a picture of the piece I have...... So that round tube thing keeps the screen door connected to the main door? What does it connect to?

This is the best picture I've found: And I've googled, yahooed and everything! Here's a pic of the one in our unmolested 61 compact. It's the same as on another screen door I bought for my wife's compact. Can't say it was original equip, but two out of three for us.

Thanks, bmxovich, I do believe that's original. I'd like to add that pic to the thread with compact original pics if you don't mind.

I almost have to hide this other compact as my wife keeps wanting to pull stuff off it, lol. I love originality and would almost kill for that water drain cap you posted.

Connects to something like this: That's just like the one in my door. I have been wondering what that was. Now I know! Andy doesn't have a screen door, so I never would have known. This is why this forum rocks! Cheers. Rod

I'm bringing up a very old thread here, but what have people been buying to replace the piece that holds the screen door to the exterior door?
