Ya Vikx but it's so much fun to watch all the grim faces and hear all the grumbling going on during the project.

I really wish more people would post videos while actually performing the work. Makes it so much easier to see how something is done. Im no pro at this either... Especially here. I just share my own experiences along with you and the others. The videos were an accident. I got sick of typing. Hard to explain in text as well. So I did a video for a friend and it stuck. I barely have time to spend working on my trailer. Taking a break at the moment. It's hard at this point to even stop to take a snapshot in between. I was a video addict at one time but I gave it up for still photography when I realized it was impossible to do both. Clamps are my best friend, too. Occasionally I snatch the 12 y/o but sometimes clamps work better. Also, I type over 100 words a minute so that's no problem for me. Got a little bit of a journalist in me. Back outside again. I'll try to take some pics this time. And I when I actually start sewing (Mon., rain), I might shoot a short video of the piping and corners and zipper placket, maybe.

Up at 2:30am and on the road by 3:30am to travel 6 hours to get some birch for the 59 Airflyte. The place closed by noon. They had 1/8 birch BUT it had clear coat on it. I did find 1/8 maple for $23 a sheet so I bought enough for the back and front curves and ceiling. They had birch measuring more than 1/8 but less than 1/4, but the bend wasn't there. I bought that for the walls, cost was $14 each. I used maple in my compact and once I shellacked it there was hardly a difference. Had to rent a U-Haul to get it home but it's worth it. So 15 hours later and $400 poorer, another piece of the puzzle is coming together. Bad news is we had more snow this week, can't get the trailer out of where it's stored yet.

The maple is really hard to tell the difference unless you work with both for a while. Actually I think they compliment each other. How about Birch walls and ceiling and Maple cabinets??? That would look neat.

I found 1/8" birch about 3 miles off our planned route, in Pueblo, Colorado. As we got near Pueblo, NewMexicoGal started calling lumber yards and hit pay dirt on her second call. Hauled it several hundred miles home.

Looking for some clarification on Birch.
It looks like I can get 1/8 4x8 G1S Natural Birch Plywood, VC, I can also get 1/4 but it seems the 1/8 is easier to work with. Do you have to kerf this?
I can also get Bending plywood - 1/4 8x4 G1S Bending Lauan Plywood Barrel Style, Exterior Glue, ( this is what came up under 1/4 birch. 1/8" is special order. But Barrel Style would be the wrong direction. The list special order for column but it's listed at 3/8" Luan
What would be the best to use?
I also found 1/2" Birch E-Core Wood Veneer plywood (for walls) but the mfg. says its for drawer sides and furniture, not exterior (no exterior glue) and they didn't recommend it, thoughts?
Can't find maple. Thanks for any info.

SusieQ I noticed something our typing description is almost the same, the only difference is you type a 100 words a minute and I type a word every 100 minutes.
