Well DRAT. I received a letter today from the PO of my little 65 Mobile Scout. We had to go thru his best friend, to his sister to him. The sweet man put two keys in the letter and signed the affidavit in lieu of title, but forgot to get it NOTARIZED. Also didn't sign the bill of sale. Sigh. We have no way to contact him except as above. Very disappointed and will probably go with the 3 year Washington wait to capture the title. So near yet so far...

I'd consult a "licensed" private DMV company to discuss your "difficulty".
You want to talk with someone that regularly does vintage cars that are pulled out of fields.
The private service usually costs you $50 bucks in my area. And they will come out to your location and inspect the vehicle.
Your NOT running a "chop shop" are you? LOL

I don't know, I think I see at least 4 rounded shadows, and it looks like that's just half of the barn! But it's probably more of a collection! How many do you have Vikx?

Send it back and ask for notarized copy? What part of Wa are you in? I'm in Burien and in the same boat as you. My issue is that I was going to use the trailer I'm doing to fund searching for what I really want. so the 3 year wait kills that for me.

Twiddling a toe in the sand.... um, there's 14 little trailers here. BUT I LET ONE GO TO A NEW HOME this Winter!!! That counts for something, yes? Then had my eye on that too cool Aljo with the plaid counter top...
Thanks John, I will check into a title company. It's pretty difficult to go back to the PO, we have no address, location, nothing... I would love to "skip" the 3 year thing. And maybe I am running a chop shop of sorts: taking a frame from one and offering it to the Cardinal comes to mind...
Restoguy, we are North of you, about 60 miles. The 3 year wait allows you to register and license the trailer, so you can use it while on he Hunt. Be aware the flippers get up early in the morning around here and often offer sellers $100 more than the asking price to hold their treasures.

Visit today at the Courthouse:
The 52 Hanson was no longer in the system and since I had photos of the VIN and trailer, ex-owner's name and address plus old registrations, I was granted the 3 year reg/in lieu of title for $19...
The Mobile Scout, on the other hand, IS in the system and requires either a notarized affidavit for title or the *real* title. I sent a certified letter/return receipt required to the last address listed to the owner. After 15 days, whether it comes back or not, I can apply for the 3 year reg. Did this as a last resort but it's going to eventually be titled. Still need to send close up pix of the VIN and a tracing of the same.
