It's actually a gorgeous little trailer with tons of original features. It will be worth the work...

Welcome to the site, don't feel like the Lone Ragner when it comes to diving in the shallow end of the pool, most of us are swayed by a pretty face and the promise of a good time.
Veteran's of the vintage camper scene know what we have to learn the hard way,I listened to all the advice, what to look for,had all the knowledge to make a informed decision and what did I do after searching for my holy grail..ignored everything and bought with my heart.
I am happy with my acquisition, but I knew it was a major project.
One thing about any of the campers, everyone has a different idea of what their dream should look like and you will enjoy making the changes and repairs as time allows,,have fun. Danny

Congrats on your beautiful trailer! Although it looks a little later than a '54, it wouldn't be by many years if it were. You say the wood needs repair... What kind of damage are you seeing? I don't see anything obvious in the pictures, unless there is damage hiding behind those pillows. As you probably have found out by now, if you've read through the posts here, visible staining to the wood is a certain indicator of rot underneath. Rot needs to be fixed. If you are handy, or willing to learn, you can do many/most/all of the repairs yourself. Welcome to a wonderful obsession, good luck and again, congratulations!

It is adorable! Don't worry about what you paid for it. Some of us overpay and know it just to get what we want. You'll find lots of help here and a pep squad that will get you through the "what did I get myself into" feelings.

As SusyQ says don't worry about it, if you are the first person on here to over pay for a trailer then no body else will know and if you aren't then you will have a lot of understanding company. The only way you paid to much is if you couldn't afford it other wise if you bought something you like then all you have to do is ask and someone will tell you how to fix it. Some of the things sound hard but as you visit this board you will discover they aren't. Some of these trailers on here have been rebuilt by people that have years of experience and others have been done by people that didn't know any thing at all when they started yet they turned out a extremely beautiful trailer when they got done. Some were done by men, some by women, and some by families it makes no matter. Just hang in there and have fun when you are done you will have something to be proud of.

Btw, that huge piece of diamond plate on the front is worth a pretty penny in itself! Any idea what it's hiding?

Well it is far better shape than my 1st and only one so far. Read and learn here, read some more. They all seem to be more work than you think at the beginning. I just finished mine and seriously thinking about another, larger trailer that needs a frame up rebuild. I must be crazy but it gets in your blood. They are not as difficult to repair as they seem at first. I have decided its easier to take it down farther and replace anything suspect than to try and patch it up intact. My 2 cents. Enjoy it!

Very nice looking trailer.
We're new to this, too, and have said "what have we done" more than once. But it gets better, really! They're not too complicated once you start to see how things are done. And the help around here is GREAT!
Don't be afraid and enjoy the ride.

I'm brand new and just about to delve into my first big projects. I have some wood to replace too, hope it's not much more than I think! We'll all do it together. I probably over paid for mine too, even though it wasn't what they wanted for it. Although, I haven't seen a single picture of one like mine on all the pinterest boards or anything yet, so that's reassuring....and scary. Good luck! It's gorgeous and hope you have a great time with it!

Welcome, it's a great little trailer! I have a '58 and it has the same coupler, if that helps. I don't thing that company made them for very long. I've been meaning to look up the patent # that is stamped on it just behind the jack (the one in the center, not the side) to see if I can find any info.
Anyway, you'll have a great time, everyone here is very helpful with any questions, just take it one step at a time.

Your trailer actually looks quite nice unless there is damage we're not seeing in the photos. No one here is going to judge you or even care about how much you paid - or how much you'll spend - but you'll get lots of advice along the way if you ask.
