I've never blogged and all I really want to do is create a build journal I can put online and link to.
Is blogspot a good choice for this?
Are there any pitfalls or regrets anyone has with blogspot?
Any better options for doing a build journal?
thanks

I use blogspot all the time. I like the way the photos upload, the only drawback is that you can't reshuffle the posts, so it always shows with the latest posting but sometimes it's hard to find older ones. Try to use descriptive titles that say what each post is about in order to find them easily later.

I like blogspot. The other ones may be cooler but unless you know some coding, you get lost.

I use Storify. You can edit and add to it and it keeps everything in a "story" form from first to last. I'm just not good with updating mine. You have to link your pics from Photobucket or Flickr, like here. It does not have cool backgrounds or anything... just a story with pics. It is free unless you want all the options. And it is probably not as user friendly as blogspot. I'm not a very good salesman, am I? You can take a look at mine. I have my Shasta restoration in draft form but haven't published it yet. storify.com/Susieqilvu/on-the-roadstorify.com/Susieqilvu/west-we-gostorify.com/Susieqilvu/cadillac-ranch-art-and-travel

Thanks for the replies and I will also look into Storify, I do like how someome can access it and see several stories (or blogs). It looks alot like photobucket with a way to format and add text to your photos.

Actually you can change the order of posts in blogspot, you just have to change the dates so they go in the order that you want....maybe that's cheating but I've done it to go back and add in stuff that I missed. I am also horrible about updating it regularly. I haven't tried anything else.

I use blogspot for my personal blog and I've been happy with it. You can tag your posts with a topic or multiple tags/topics and then search those topics when looking for a post from the past. You can also add a "search widget" to your page where you can search whatever word you'd like and all posts containing that word comes up.
For my professional blogs I use wordpress.org (different from wordpress.com). It does take some figuring out, but is very seo friendly and clean in general.

I use BlogSpot. I don't really have anything to compare it to since this is my first blog, but I'm not especially "techie" but I was able to figure it out.

I've never used a blog before either but I'd like to keep a journal/picture history. Besides just storing the info. in a different place, what is the difference from doing it here in the "Stories" section?

I guess one difference is it would be easier to share it in different places and ways instead of direct people to this website.
Also, and I hope not, but this website could go away, nobody shoot me just sharing thoughts.

I certainly hope this "website" (ie: VTT) isn't going away anytime soon!
That being said, it's always good to back up all information. We learned the hard way that the website "hosts" can cause a lot of trouble and ruin a board.
