I bought my foam at Joann's but that is not a popular choice for some here. There are posts and discussions here and links here to other sources.
I like my foam, it is not the top density, but good enough for me. I don't bottom out, it's 100x better than the manufactured tri-fold mattress in my teardrop. I looked the specs up on this foam and its life is about 7 years. And since I won't be sitting on it every day, and if I camp an average of 50 nights a year, by my calculations, it should last another 50 years, haha!
If you do use Joann's, don't pay full price. Sign up for e-mail coupons or use their app and watch for sales. Mine was 60% off when I bought it.

My memory foam came from Walmart and it is solid memory foam. DO NOT buy the toppers that are regular foam with memory foam on top because the memory foam is only about 1/4" thick! You want a solid memory foam topper if you go that route.

Thanks for the quick response. I have been researching so much about foam, you'd think I'm an expert by now I already got one quote from an upholsterer to make our dinette cushions using our fabric and foam (from Joann's 50% off + 20% off coupon) and the labor was really expensive. Two more upholsterers want me to come in and use their materials so I plan to schedule appointments with them this week to get quotes. One of them said they would consider using my fabric (after they looked at it) but won't use Joann's foam). I absolutely love decorating but this foam stuff is giving me fits.

Got my electric knife at a thrift store for $2 and it works great for cutting all the foam I have tried. Go to a thrift store near a living community for retired people LOL... (that could be all of us)... That's where you will find nice stuff from the past. If you go to a thrift store in an economically depressed area all you will find is baby clothes and Walmart plastic junk.

We have a rather upscale ASPCA thrift shop and we have a rather affluent area (John Grisham, Sissy Spacek, Howie Long). I went to the upperside and a county over to the lowerside Goodwills. Nothing here. But the new one my MIL bought me was very inexpensive, worked well and I greatly appreciated it.
Where ever you find it, just make sure you use it correctly, the point of my post. Otherwise, you'll have a mess like the unnamed store made.

Haha! These hills are big farms and mountains, not squished together mansions.

I just purchased from FOAMONLINE.COM and was very happy with my purchase.
4" medium density, "high quality". Custom cut to my sizes. They vacuum pack, and ship freight free with a minimum purchase.
Foam is not cheap.

Great to know John. How about putting the link in the LINKS section.

I was searching because I thought we had a section of foam sources in the LINK section but it must be in a regular thread and I can't find it.

PERFECT!!!! "This not for the veterans but for the first timers. This is what works for me. I was going to wait until I was finished to share but maybe someone could benefit from this now if they are snowed in like me."
Good text, wonderful pictures and a good step one step two. I thank you for the in-tell Suzie Q. We are all first timers, some just started sooner than others.

I was searching for foam for my upper bunk. I was surprised that Home Depot had it online. For a twin size pc. it was 25.00 3 inch thick. It had good reviews so thought I would give it a try. I got it last week and it is super firm. I doubled it up to make the 6" I wanted. Had a daughter try sleeping on it and was told it stayed firm all night. I have not checked to see if they had other sizes but will probably order again. The 2 pcs. cost 50.00 so shipping was free. Much cheaper and appears better than JoAnn or Hobby Lobby. Just FYI.

We slept on the green JoAnn's upholstery foam (not craft foam)every night for almost two months and it was great. That's more nights than most people would camp in 2 or 3 years. Does not bottom out and stayed firm, even in damp, humid conditions. Only problem is, my feet just barely touch the floor when sitting on the bench with the 4" and 1 1/2" topper.

My main bed is like yours only I have it 6 1/2", but sure is expensive. This foam seems firmer than my JoAnn foam.
