Hey all, Really enjoying the forum as my wife and I look to find a vintage "canned ham". I am curious what you think about a 1950 vintage Little Ceasar trailer on ebay right now. It is item # 181333717413 - sorry I do not know how to put in the link to click on. But it's easy to find and actually expires tonight. Seller has been very honest on his description and a good number of pictures. Obviously needs a new floor but skin appears to be in restorable condition and interior looks very original. Have to admit one reason I like this one is the size would allow me to pull into my carport as limited to 88 inches tall to make it in. Still looking for a Shasta Compact, first generation, but this Little Ceasar would be much less buy in. Is anyone familiar with these and all advice and opinions would be much appreciated. Thanks, Mike

Big "red flag" - NO TITLE. This camper is located in California and the NO TITLE is a big RED FLAG!!! Bimmrr, go to the section on titles and read up on the trouble you will have in California.

Thanks dsadki - I checked with my state ( South Carrolina) and they will accept a Bill of Sale/Seller's Affidavit for a trailer over 25 years old. Probably take about 6 weeks to get it registered, etc but fortunately not like California. Tax would only be 6% of purchase price with a max of $300 over here. But again, thank you for pointing this out !!! Regards, Mike

OK, then this is for any forum folks who live close and might be considering this trailer... The good: - The skin is in great shape and you could probably keep the original paint with a good polish. - It has the original cabinetry still in place and intact.
The bad/the ugly: - The entire front and back corners from roofline to floor are rotten and will have to be replaced... - along with the floor. - Some poor sot is going to have to scrape all that caulking off the seams outside.
Basically, this one will need a frame-off restoration. The good news is that most things are there.
We hope nobody tries to tow this one, even a few miles. It needs to go by flatbed.

I was browsing here last night, and saw the listing just before it closed. Speechless. This one was falling apart at every seam. It definitely should not have been towed home.... Extensive water damage inside, extensive caulking not holding anything together outside, probably $400 in seals just to rebuild the windows. That is all on top of the "no title" thing. Absolutely amazing.

SOLD for a little over 3K! I can't believe what people pay for a piece of junk... You can't believe how many trailers I have turned down in that condition that were selling for less than $500. I could have made a small fortune.... I know that there is a boom going on but this is absolutely amazing.

On a roll here and I'm sure these people are very nice and they can't help what other people wish to spend on a rolling, rotted box. And believe me I have completely restored my share of rolling rotted boxes. But I only paid an average of $100 to $300 for them. In many cases I should have been paid just for getting it off the seller's property for them LOL...
The trailers that he is selling are coming from the top of the state of California near Redding where up until this year, it has rained and snowed every winter and spring for eternity..... Trailers that have spent their lives in this kind of climate are going to be full of rot unless they have been housed under a water tight cover most of their lives. I would never pay what people are paying for trailers on Ebay sight unseen. Matter of fact, I would never pay what people are paying period. I wouldn't pay what people have paid me for some of my trailers to be honest with you.
Now the other thing that crosses my tiny little brain is the fact that most of these buyers are going to have to have the trailer shipped. I remember just a few years ago I could ship a trailer all the way across the country for under $800. Not any more from what I am hearing. So you pay $3k for a rotten rolling box, and then another $2k to have it shipped and then when you finally have it in your hands you are going to spend at least another $5k in parts and materials for a trailer that will be worth maybe $8500 when you are through.
Ebay is a wonderful thing isn't it? LOL...

And that's what I said about this seller in the first place. Very willing to allow people to come and inspect. Lot's of photos of both the good and the bad. Even the ugly. Again I think I am in the wrong part of the business. You sure don't make much money restoring them. At least I don't. Ask Soup about that. He had to go out and get a real job and I used to have one. If retirement for me wasn't so close I would be out looking for a real job myself cuz what I do with trailers does not even cover the bills around here.
