I just realised that since my trailer only has one water tap there is likely no hot water. Is this correct? Are most vintage trailers like this? Has anyone added a hot water heater during restoration? If so, can you recomend a brand? Thanks Lady W

NOPE, no water heater. We're pretty simple around here... Can you spell Vintage?? LOL.
Anyway, a few of us have installed an "on demand" water heater that works really well. You would need an extra faucet.
Hamlet may chime in here; they have a great heater in the closet...

We added a Marey 5L/min on demand heater to Tallulah Belle. If you want hot water you will want to add an on demand heater, run propane lines to your heater and plumbing lines from your water tank and city water inlet to your heater and then back to your sink. It is worth it, the first time you shower off at your campsite and have all the hot water you want!

Thanks for the info. I will need to give this some thought. There is no bathroom/shower in my trailer, as it is 13 ft. I grew up at a cabin with no water, hauling it with pails and boiling it for dishes. Perhaps that would work in Penelope too. One thing I have noticed is that when we camp with just a tent and no extras, it makes you slow down a bit because you have to wait for everything..lol.

Besides that a nice walk to the shower house helps start your day especially on a cool Spring or Fall day. I think a 13 foot trailer is too small for a shower unless you are little people. We will have a porti-potti as my wife thinks that is an absolute must, and I agree.

Ah, yes, hot water. I keep thinking about my camping partner - my 12 year old granddaughter, and imagining that the no hot water issue is not going to be a good thing.
Vikx - have you added one of those on demand heaters to any of your trailers?
Hamlet - don't remember what your hot water set up was.

Love the new avatar Txoil! No, haven't added a water heater yet. Most of the time, there's no room since I don't have the handy Compact style closet... My hams are front dinette/rear bed. I would think you'd have to hang the heater outside, as the Colemans were designed to do. I have a *new* trailer here, a Shasta SCS. It had a heater with a chimney exhaust, tossed by the PO. It also has the tiny shower area, soooo: an on demand heater could fit in the old heater space and use the same chimney.
