I found this beauty talking to the parents of one of the girls on my daughters softball team. It has been in their family for the last 40 years or so. They want to get a new trailer and this one needs to be gone to make room for the new one. It's in pretty good shape considering the known Shasta problems. I'll be bringing it home in the next couple of days. What do you all think?? Current Utah registration paperwork says its a 1959. Here's a link to some more photos hope it works sdrv.ms/NqMaFg

I am not sure that I would say much more until it is safely home parked in the living room....
Yet ANOTHER museum-quality piece surfaces! From my observation vantage point in the universe, this is about 4 this week....It is absolutely gorgeous! All the tells are there to indicate the age ('59) is correct. It looks like it will need such a small amount of work to replace any problem spots that it should be a great pleasure-project.

Another 59! They are showing up all over the place lately LOL... Nice find FFM. The ceiling looks like the only major repair to me. I would plan on taking the top off and at least sistering the rafter boards. Possibly replacing the panel with the vent in it.
Make sure it's safe to tow before you move it.

What mobiltec says above^ I agree. Also roof looks to have the "white stuff" painted on it. Inspect the roof really close. I took one off recently with that on there and hail dents that looked ok until I used the old roof skin on for my barn door. When you stand inside the barn with the doors closed you can see pin holes every where the hail made dents. I still love it though and it would totally be worth a new roof skin if you need one from Hemet Valley.

Brought the 59 Shasta home this afternoon and all went well, except the cord for the lights was too short and wouldn't reach the plug on my truck. Good thing it was a short drive home (about 6 miles) so I took my chances. Took the back roads less traveled and made it no problem. Dawn, the trailer box is 7' wide X 13' 4'' long, 15' 6" bumper to tongue. Mobiltec, what does FFM mean? My acronym library is small but growing. The top will be coming off and will be replaced(what does a new top cost anyway, approx.?). It has the white goop from front to back and is caved in where the roof boards have concaved over time. It is currently raining and leaking right now. Lot of good the white goop is doing . The interior appears to be Ash so I will try and save as much of it as possible since I have read here many times that one can't get Ash anymore. The wood under the front side windows is in remarkably good shape. The worst interior water damage is the panel the vent is in and the streetside rear corner, i'm sure I'll find more as I tear into it though. Here it is hooked up to my truck for the short tow home. And in the driveway of my home. I hope it turns out as cool as the picture in my head.

Two predictions.... First, it is going to be every bit as cool as you are picturing...and in fact may amaze you how cool it is... Second, as you get into this project you will find that the "hunting" has just begun. The addiction to finding them is strong. You may not think you are looking for another one,................. yet........... .

Im sorry I got your post mixed up with Five Foot Menace. Read through here a little too fast.
Yep I saw that roof. Steve will be happy to quote you. I will just get myself in trouble if I start putting ideas into people's heads on what things cost. Give Steve a call and have your measurements ready. You want to measure from the bottom of the Pittsburg Lock on the front which is near the top of the front window, to the bottom of the lock in the back at the top of the rear window. What ever that measurement is add at least one inch to it. Better to be just a little too long than a little too short because you can cut down those little side pieces on the outside of the front window to fit. Also you want to go 4 inches wider than the outside width of the trailer.
Make sure to use a soft tape measure. They sell roll up ones in fifty foot lengths. My measurements for my 59 Airflyte were as follows.
I ordered mine 88 inches wide by 16 foot long. That gave me plenty of wiggle room because I like to puff out the trailer with lots of insulation. I call that the "Puff Factor"....
Don't use my measurements. Measure yours carefully and do it twice just to make sure. I think I measured mine 6 times LOL...

I aint skeered to approx. the price for skin! Both of these roof projects (links below)roof skins from Hemet Valley ran me approx. $650 each boxed and shipped to my house in the Cincinnati, OH river valley area, this past summer so prices may have went up by now. (It ran me around $250 of that $650 to ship and the $250 also had a $75 box charge for the total of approx. $650 total to my door.) The Lowflyte roof is probably smaller than yours will be so yours might run more in price for the bigger skin. Remember measure and re-measure about 6 times and have someone else watch you measuring to confirm measurements before ordering skin. When in doubt order bigger not smaller sense you will have to trim to fit anyway. See these links for a look into your future roof project! vintagetrailertalk.freeforums.net/thread/723/lowflyte-68-grrrrrreatand vintagetrailertalk.freeforums.net/thread/479/compact-bring-boil-reduce-simmerHave fun!
