Link to pics below. Just checked it out last weekend, loved it and put a deposit down. Agreed to buy it for $1,700. All electric works when plugged in, propane works on stove and fridge, wheels have good tread left, has brakes but electrical hasn't been used/tested recently, new hitch coupler, Interior was very clean and smelled fine with almost no signs of water damage besides a wee bit on the bottom drawer beneath the sink, cushions in good shape...basically ready to camp, which is what I was looking for. picasaweb.google.com/102975192259973000677/Shasta1970AirflyteWhiteAndBlueWithBathroom?authuser=0&feat=directlink#After checking out some other trailers and doing a ton of online browsing, it seemed like a good price for a Shasta in this condition. I love the layout of it and it's the perfect size. It's my first vintage trailer and I didn't want a big project, just some flexibility to do some redesigning/cosmetic work. Let me know your thoughts!

Hey you can not beat a functional, safe trailer ready to camp in for $1700. New starts at $18k... Good job!

Congrats on the find. In my opinion only, I would say you found a pretty good deal! I would say $1700 is a decent price.
The unit looks pretty clean and straight, and the interior looks complete as well. The "Smell-test" is a large part of the process and that passed too.
I can see a couple things that I would recommend checking out as you go. It is only observation from photos and no hands on so it is all speculation but...
First thing, I would plan very much on a couple weekends of pulling the windows, door frame, vents, j-channel, and covers, and replace the putty tape all around. The fact it hasn't leaked won't mean that it will not. The tape is noted for drying and shrinking. Replacing will help a lot to prevent a lot of future leakage and damage.
Another place I would recommend checking carefully is the skirt boards and underside of the wheel wells. There looks like a little damage to the skin in a couple small places. Be sure the framework behind is solid so that the skin won't shake loose. It also appears that there were a couple dings in the front leading edge, quite common from contact with a tow vehicle when it was being backed up at one time or another. This is another place to be sure to check that there isn't cracked framing underneath the skin. Usually this is not a huge issue, but if it is damaged, it could lead to sag later.

Ten, that's great to hear. Glad somebody more experienced than myself agrees on the price.
Thanks for the tips too, I'll definitely be sure to check those things out. Not sure if this is the right thread for this, but while we're on the topic of repairs I was wondering if you might have any recommendations for fixing the skin in those places where it has separated a bit? Seems like something that should be done, although it doesn't look too bad.

bfox, please do start another thread for the skin questions. It really helps to keep things organized. Exterior repair would be perfect. Thanks!

I just was about to revisit the photos for the "new" Airflyte, and got a message that Google does not want to cooperate and show them to me. So goes life on the computer front I guess.... Meantime, I was looking through some of the old blogs that I have bookmarked, and found this one... airflyte.blogspot.com/This is a similar year/ model/ vintage to yours. It belongs to a gentleman named Kevin, who is a member here (I think), and he was active on the old vintage Shasta board. He kept a nice record of his work here, and the help may be profound for you. Even if not, it is still a fun look!

Yeah I've actually looked through his blog before, great stuff! Thanks for sharing. It's definitely going to be a resource as we tackle the renovations.
